A Chevrolet commercial has received critical acclaim for its heartwarming depiction of the importance of caring for one’s elders. The ad shows an extended family coming together to celebrate Christmas, a time of joy and happiness among the generations. However, one of the elderly grandmothers is shown to have a neurodegenerative condition impacting her memory.
As the rest of the family is preoccupied around the house, the elderly woman sits by herself in a corner, staring out of a window. The elderly woman’s husband can be seen speaking to another family member, explaining his wife has “good days” and “bad days,” some of which she doesn’t even recognize him. Hearing this, a young girl in the family takes it upon herself to brighten her grandmother’s Christmas.
Emphasizing that today will be a “good day,” the girl takes her grandmother out of the house on a trip down memory lane. In the garage, she takes the cover off the family’s old Chevrolet truck, which would’ve been driven in the grandmother’s younger years. Immediately, a change can be seen in the elderly woman’s demeanor.
The granddaughter takes her throughout the town, highlighting memorable locations that have played important roles throughout her grandmother’s life. The trip becomes increasingly stimulating, with the grandmother beginning to speak and interact more as memories are jogged up. As they drove past the local high school, she recounted a memory of seeing her husband, Bill, walk out of it.
After taking the grandmother to a drive-in movie theater where she shared her first kiss with Bill, she immediately wanted to return home and see her husband. The ad concludes with the couple sharing a heartwarming kiss, and walking inside to join the rest of the family. Users on social media reacted to the ad, with one person writing, “This Chevrolet ad is better than anything Hollywood has produced in the last 20 years.”
The ad from Chevrolet celebrating family and taking care of elders come in stark contrast to woke advertisement from other car brands. The American Tribune recently reported on the backlash against Jaguar, who recently released a very strange commercial that didn’t even feature a car, instead looking more like an avant-garde art performance. The Tribune wrote:
In what might go down as a Bud Light-tier bad move, British car manufacturer Jaguar released a horribly out of touch, woke ad that horrified viewers on X (formerly Twitter), and led to immense backlash in the comments section, with the carmaker savaged for what critics contended was an obscenely woke and weird ad.
The ad, “Copy Nothing,” features no cars. Instead, it consists entirely of an ensemble of oddly attired individuals with shocking makeup and haircuts. Like many woke advertisements, it appears to be meant to stun normal people as a way of building more social cache for the brand. It just led to much anger and mockery online, however.

It even has an all white cast. RARE! pic.twitter.com/hACPpCliNX
