In yet another entertaining and annoying segment on ABC’s far-left “The View,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg had a bit of a meltdown about who the vice president will be in the upcoming Trump Administration. Particularly, she freaked out about Elon Musk, claiming that he will be “the actual vice president.”
The spat started with “The View” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, who started rambling about how she sees things that annoy her on Instagram, saying, “There has to be fact-checking and actually verification of the things I share. I spend a lot of time on Instagram reels that I’m served up, things I get outraged about, and I know it’s not true and look it up.”
Continuing, she noted that the Twitter alternative to which many liberals have fled has issues of its own, saying, “The Bluesky versus X, because a lot of people I follow on Twitter/X left to go to Bluesky, and we’re all going into our own echo chamber. We had this election that was tense, and the right will stay on X, and the left will be on Bluesky. How do we try to talk to each other?”
That’s when Goldberg chimed in and had her meltdown about Elon Musk. Beginning, she claimed that really the problem is the right, as it is full of “nasty name-calling” in the place of “discourse.” She said, “Unfortunately, I will have to say, the other side, I think, has driven people away because, you know, it’s not just discourse. It’s nasty name-calling and coming after your family.”
Continuing, she gave an excuse for not participating in the public square, as many on the left have done by fleeing from X (formerly Twitter) instead of sticking around and sharing their thoughts around people who might disagree. She said, “I’m going to do this to you, and I don’t think anyone should have to take that from anybody if they don’t have to.”
That’s when she got to her line about Elon Musk really being the Vice Presiden, something that came as a bit of a random non-sequitur as she attacked Republicans for having differing opinions on things. She said, “And I think a lot of Republicans who also are getting that because they have opinions that may differ from what is being said, they’re moving, as well, because, you know, I know why also because, you know, as I believe, Elon Musk is the actual vice president.”
She then used that to build on her claim about who will really be running things in the Trump Administration, though ignoring that really the VP doesn’t have all that much power, saying, “JD Vance, you know, he’s kind of an interim, but I believe that Musk, he’s the real actual vice president.”
Concluding, she explained why she thinks Elon Musk is the real VP, still ignoring that the VP doesn’t have all that much power or ability to be “doing things,” as she put it, saying, “He’s making decisions. He’s doing things. So I think, why doesn’t he have to give up X with everything he’s done?”
