A powerful video recently shared on social media highlighted the “two heartbreaking sacrifices” that former First Son Barron Trump made for his father throughout his time in American politics. False and salacious rumors had been spread about Barron during President-elect Donald Trump’s first administration due to his quiet demeanor. However, when further context is added, it becomes clear these claims are untrue.
In the video shared to X, the narrator begins, “No one realized that Baron Trump made two heartbreaking sacrifices for his father. In 2016, comedian Rosie O’Donnell claimed that Baron Trump had autism because Baron rarely spoke in public and did not appear as lively as other children. Many believed her this deeply hurt Baron and Melania. After enduring this for some time, Melania finally broke her silence, refuting the claim in her autobiography and emphasizing that Baron does not have autism.”
The narrator explains that children in the Trump family are reserved and well-mannered, due to their exceptional upbringing. In fact, Barron’s silence stems from good upbringing and manners, which make him more composed than the average child,” he said. “After all, it’s hard to imagine the son of a president screaming and jumping around White House.”
“The other Trump children are the same,” he mentioned, commenting on other children of the former president’s. “They hardly ever engage in idle chatter.” Furthermore, Barron had be on top of his manners during his formative years which were spent in the White House. “Additionally, Baron’s adolescence coincided with Donald Trump’s time in office. In his subsequent departure, a father’s troubles always affect the family, and as the youngest son, Barron, naturally had to be cautious with his words and actions to avoid further trouble,” the video stated.
“However, Melania never expected that Baron’s good manners would be used as a reason to bully him. After this turmoil, Melania, deeply affected, launched the Be Best campaign aimed at combating online bullying and protecting children’s welfare, it must be said that this was the perfect retaliation,” the video concluded.
The American Tribune previously reported on comments from Melania illustrating the “irreparable damage” that was done through the rumors spread about young Barron during her husband’s first presidency. Rosie O’Donnell said in a now-deleted tweet from 2016, “Barron Trump autistic? If so, what an amazing opportunity to bring attention to the AUTISM epidemic.”
Denying that her son had autism, Melania stated in her memoir, “I was appalled by such cruelty.” The former first lady continued, “It was clear to me that she was not interested in raising awareness about autism. I felt that she was attacking my son because she didn’t like my husband.” However, Melania maintained, “There is nothing shameful about autism (though O’Donnell’s tweet implied that there was), but Barron is not autistic.”
Melania explained that the rumors had been used to bully her son. “Barron’s experience of being bullied both online and in real life following the incident is a clear indication of the irreparable damage caused,” she said describing it as a “devastating” experience for the family. Melania asserted, “It felt like my heart was breaking into pieces.”
