Speaking to fellow MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace on Thursday, November 14, during an appearance on “Deadline,” MSNBC leftist Rachel Maddow went into meltdown mode over the various conservative personalities that President-elect Donald Trump is choosing as members of his Cabinet.
In fact, Maddow declared that the president-elect is using his cabinet picks to “destroy the U.S. government” and fulfill his promise as an “authoritarian” leader. Focusing on two of the picks in particular, Maddow lost her mind over Robert F Kennedy Jr. and Matt Gaetz, declaring that they’ll wreck the government.
Beginning her lengthy rant about the picks, Maddow said, “I think the idea of the authoritarian promise is that everything shrivels in government other than the will of the leader, right? So, you don’t necessarily put a Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in charge of you’re hoping for great things from HHS.”
Continuing, she declared that Gaetz would destroy parts of, or perhaps the entirety of, the DOJ, but didn’t explain why that would be bad. She said, “Matt Gaetz, he has explicitly proposed abolishing the Justice Department, not specifically abolishing the FBI and the ATF but talking about abolishing the Justice Department.”
Then, insulting yet another of Trump’s picks, Maddow went on the attack against Iraq War veteran Tulsi Gabbard, saying, “I mean, Tulsi Gabbard as the Director of National Intelligence is, I mean, the idea that Tulsi Gabbard, in a normal circumstance, could get a security clearance to be like a Walmart-style greeter at any U.S. intelligence agency, let alone get past the security barriers, is insane.”
She wasn’t done. Further going on the attack about the mindset she sees as being behind these picks, Maddow declared, “So, you do that because you want the worst for these agencies, because you want the worst for the U.S. government because you think that the U.S. government is worthless.”
Adding to that part of her rant, Maddow then said, “That’s part of consolidating power, to make the U.S. government nothing other than the leader and people who will do what he says, and they’re not being any repository of expertise, let alone, you know, just general day-to-day know-how anywhere.”
Bizarrely, Maddow then both cited Steve Bannon and tried to connect Trump to Vladimir Lenin and his view of government. She did so to again insist that Trump aims to destroy the government. Maddow said, “So it’s a — it’s a sort of, I mean, Steve Bannon used to say, it’s a sort of Leninist project, right? Destroy the state. This is the cabinet that you nominate to, not to run the U.S. government, to do anything, but to destroy the U.S. government.”
Still not done, Maddow returned to the idea that Trump is an “authoritarian” who wants to autocratically rule over the United States. She said, “So that the U.S. government can be fundamentally reimagined as something much more like a unitary authoritarian or autocratic, for lack of a better term, system.”
