A blue city in California recently recalled a woke Soros-funded prosecutor in Alameda County, which encompasses the city of Oakland. Voters in the county decided to recall District Attorney Pamela Price, who is backed by the far-left billionaire who has continuously installed radical left prosecutors in localities all around the country.
According to the San Jose Mercury News, “The recall targeting Alameda County’s top prosecutor resulted in success Tuesday night, potentially striking a blow to progressivism in the criminal justice system across in one of California’s bluest enclaves.” The outlet added, “In unofficial final results posted by Alameda County early Wednesday, District Attorney Pamela Price became the first elected district attorney to be recalled from office in the county’s history. Voters voiced support for removing her from office less than two years into her first, six-year term, though final results could take days to be finalized as city and county election officials continue to count ballots cast on Election Day.”
The recall against Price mirrors similar initiatives against prosecutors and other leftist public officials, where Los Angeles County prosecutor George Gascon recently lost reelection by a substantial margin. Gascon had been heavily criticized in recent years for soft-on-crime policies, such as the decriminalization of low-level theft. Furthermore, voters in San Francisco recalled Chesa Boudin in the past several years, representing the first signs of pushback.
As Americans have grown tired of progressive law enforcement, President-elect Donald Trump and the Republican Party have stepped up, promoting a law and order agenda. Speaking about Trump’s tough on crime agenda Trump national press secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “President Trump believes criminals should spend time behind bars, unlike Kamala Harris, who wants to eliminate cash bail.” She also told the New York Times, “President Trump believes anyone convicted of a crime should spend time behind bars.”
Trump maintained in a campaign event before the election, “Kamala Harris will deliver crime, chaos, destruction and death.” He continued, “You’ll see levels of crime that you’ve never seen before. … I will deliver law, order, safety and peace.” He continued, “Our policemen and women have the backs of law-abiding citizens every day. When we go back to the White House, you’re going to see support the likes of which you haven’t seen, certainly in four years.”
In contrast, Vice President Kamala Harris had been the subject of intense criticism regarding her policies on law enforcement. However, her campaign attempted to position her as a candidate who would uphold the rule of law. Mitch Landrieu, national co-chair for the Biden-Harris campaign said, “Her position has always been that you can both be tough and smart on crime, and it requires funding police, but it also requires funding rehabilitation and things that might criminal justice system safer. You can do both.” He added, “Our actions indicate that she wants to fund the police, but she wants to do the other things as well.”
