Former president Donald Trump, amidst some serious questions from reporters about the various crises embattling his successor, also got a smile and laugh from the cadre of journalists and his wife Melania when asked about his New Year’s resolution.
Trump, without missing a beat, adroitly shifted gears to celebrate his missus and share how he would proceed into 2023.
“Well, we have a great relationship, we’ve gotten along very well from day one, and we’re going to keep it that way,” Trump stated, before heading out to spend the evening with family and friends.
Here’s Trump eliciting a chuckle from Melania on New Year’s Eve.
Trump also posted an uplifting message to his Truth Social account that same evening.
“HAPPY NEW YEAR to the Incredible, Brave, and Strong American Patriots who Built, Love, and Cherish America. The REAL leaders of our Country will always remain FAITHFUL and LOYAL to you. The USA will be back, Bigger & Better & Stronger than ever before. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!”
Mar-a-Lago has been anything but a dull residence post-presidency for the 45th Commander-in-Chief. In addition to hosting one of the most nefarious, and certainly unprecedented raids, this past August at the hands of the corrupt Biden administration and Department of Justice, Trump also marked the announcement of his 2024 presidential candidacy from his Florida home.
“America’s comeback starts right now,” Trump announced this pasty fall. “Unlike other presidents, I kept my promises.”
“The world was at peace, America was prospering, and our country was on track for an amazing future— because I made big promises to the American People and, unlike other Presidents, I kept my promises,” he continued. “Under our leadership, we were a great and glorious nation, something you haven’t heard for quite a long period of time. We were a strong nation, and importantly we were a free nation. Now, we are a nation in decline. We are a failing nation.”
Trump then made it official from Mar-a-Lago: “I am tonight again announcing my candidacy for President of the United States.”
Though his candidacy was almost a given, the one big question remaining for Trump is who he will select as his running mate. Mike Pence was chosen in 2016 to provide a more grounded, shall we say, balance to the then-unknown and boisterous Trump.
This time around, everyone knows what Trump is about and he has made it clear he doesn’t want an establishment insider. If he is truly going to be an America First president, he must go with someone not stained by their roots to the Deep State and federal bureaucracy.
Fox News’ popular host and witty comedian Greg Gutfeld previously shared his thoughts on whom Trump should select – defected Democrat Tulsi Gabbard.
“The thing I like about Tulsi is that if she were to give you two opinions, you could not predict a third. She’s a definition of an individual. Like, I disagree with her on probably at least 30%, maybe 40% of things, but the boxes she ticks aren’t the boxes that Kamala ticks. Her boxes are achievements and ideas,” said Gutfeld.
Trump has previously been asked this question and responded at the time by saying, “I’ll let you know very soon.”
