Back in mid-May of this year, a House Oversight Committee hearing turned to chaos with a spat between Rep. MTG, AOC, and Rep. Jasmine Crockett, leading to Sen. Fetterman comparing the hearing to an episode of the “Jerry Springer Show,” which then led to AOC calling his remarks “bullying.” Fetterman wasn’t having it and sounded off on her.
As background, the spat consisted of the three congresswomen shouting at each other as House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer pleaded for order. Rep. Crockett fired at MTG, saying, “Do you know what we’re here for?” MTG snapped back, “I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading.”
That’s when AOC started complaining, saying, “I do have a point of order, and I would like to move to take down Ms. Greene’s words. That is absolutely unacceptable. How dare you attack the physical appearance of another person… move her words down.” MTG said, “Are your feelings hurt?” AOC then snapped back, “Oh girl, baby girl! Don’t even play!”
That incident, in turn, led Senator Fetterman to compare the incident to worse version of the famous show, saying, “In the past, I’ve described the U.S. House as The Jerry Springer Show. Today, I’m apologizing to The Jerry Springer Show.” AOC, attacking him over his comments, said, “I understand you likely would not have stood up for your colleague and seem to be confused about racism and misogyny being a ‘both sides’ issue.”
Continuing, the woke congresswoman then said, “But I stand up to bullies, instead of becoming one.” She then suggested that Sen. Fetterman doesn’t stand up for “the women of Pennsylvania,” writing, “And to the women of Pennsylvania: I’d stand up for you too.” She concluded by saying, “Enjoy your Friday.”
Fetterman wasn’t having it. Firing back, Sen. Fetterman told CNN’s Jake Tapper that her freakout was utterly absurd, given that he was describing a ridiculous and chaotic incident. He said, “Oh, well, of course, that‘s absurd. I was just simply responding to the kind of chaos and everything that Rep. Greene started as well.”
Continuing, he added that the incident was not something that should make the congresswomen involved at all proud. He said, “And if everyone on the committee was proud of what they‘ve produced, they are entitled to their opinion or if they feel that this is the kind of a video that you want to send to a classroom of 8th-grade civics kind of students across America. That’s their choice.” Watch the wild incident that started the spat here:
AOC and Fetterman sounded off on each other more recently, when AOC posted on X about the Israel-Hamas War, saying, “The horrors unfolding in northern Gaza are the result of a completely unrestrained Netanyahu gov, fully armed by the Biden admin while food aid is blocked and patients are bombed in hospitals. This is a genocide of Palestinians. The US must stop enabling it. Arms embargo now.”
Washington, DC-focused news outlet The Hill then wrote an article about her tweet, titling it, “Ocasio-Cortez criticizes Biden administration over ‘unrestrained’ Israel government.” Tweeting about it and AOC, Sen, Fetterman then said, “The tragedy in Gaza is 100% on Hamas. Stop using civilians and hospitals as shields, surrender, and release all remaining hostages—and this ends.”
Rep. AOC then freaked out and fired back at him, snapping, “I dunno man. I care about little kids dying. I care about human rights. I care that billions of US tax dollars’ worth of weapons are carrying out unspeakable atrocities. I care enough for us to do better. Hope this bleak dunk attempt gets you whatever it is you’re going for.”
