Speaking at a rally in Arizona on Tuesday the 22 of October, Senator and 2024 Republican Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance hammered Vice President Kamala Harris for vowing to fix things if elected president in November while, in reality, having done nothing of the sort for three and a half years while Vice President.
The argument is one that Sen. Vance has made many times before and primarily revolves around the fact that Vice President Harris, despite now claiming to hold common sense positions such as tacit support for a border wall, has been either doing nothing or doing the opposite in her role as Vice President to Joe Biden.
Making that point to the roaring Arizona crowd, which quite liked it, Sen. Vance said, “All of us with common sense, when we see Kamala Harris say things like on day one she is going to tackle the affordability crisis affecting American families — a lot of us are saying, Kamala, day one was 1,400 days ago. What the hell have you been doing this whole time?”
And then, giving an example of how Kamala has very much not been fixing the problem but instead has been exacerbating it while in office, he said, “Kamala Harris came into office bragging that she wanted to open the American southern border. She came into office bragging about undoing all of Donald Trump’s border policy.”
Then, commenting on the horrific slaying of Nicholas Douglas, a 30-year-old Marine Corps veteran from Tucson, Arizona, Sen. Vance noted that the violence of the cartels is severe and widespread, saying, “What the drug cartels are doing is not just affecting us north of the border. It’s affecting everything north and south of the border. It’s affecting a young Marine who wants to go visit a friend and spend some time on a beach.” He added, relating it back to us here in America, ”
Sen. Vance also said that a Trump-Vance Administration would do a much better job with the election this time around, and encouraged people to vote however works best for them. He said, “Are we going to get this perfect? Of course, we’re not going to get it perfect, but we’re doing a hell of a lot better in 2024 than we were in 2020. The best message that I could give is to get out there and vote through whatever method makes the most sense.” Watch him here:
Sen. Vance also tried to draw in Native Americans, saying, “Native and tribal folks are always going to have a seat at the table. The reason why you have Native Americans coming around to Donald Trump’s candidacy, and a lot of these folks haven’t voted Republican maybe in their entire lives, certainly not in many, many years, is they recognize that a wide open southern border and unaffordable groceries and rent, it hits our native communities as hard as it hits anybody else.”
The senator also joked about how easy it is to speaking support of the Trump campaign in contrast to the Harris disaster, telling the large crowd, “I’ve got the easiest job in American politics. I’ve got to go around and just remind the American people that Donald Trump delivered rising take home pay and low inflation.”
