Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign recently made a false and misleading claim about former President Donald Trump during a rally. However, the claim was so baseless that even ABC News, the network that has faced backlash over its moderation of the presidential debate, set the record straight in what conservatives have described as “another narrative” of Harris being “destroyed.”
During a recent campaign event hosted by Trump, there were two individuals in the crowd who faced medical emergencies. These incidents led Trump to pause the event and play music while engaging with his crowd of supporters. Subsequently, the Kamala Harris campaign attempted to take clips of the event out of context and make it seem as if Trump was confused and elderly onstage.
While sharing footage of Trump’s rally, the Kamala HQ account wrote on X, “Trump appears lost, confused, and frozen on stage as multiple songs play for 30+ minutes and the crowd pours out of the venue early.” Kamala Harris’s X account also commented, “Hope he’s okay.”However, ABC News accurately reported on the incident, debunking the narrative of the event that Harris offered.
Conservative commentator Collin Rugg shared a clip of the ABC broadcast covering the incident, writing, “ABC News debunks the Harris campaign’s claim that Trump had a “senior moment” on stage, *compliments* him for how he handled the situation. Another narrative destroyed. ABC News says Trump decided to change things up after a couple of supporters had medical emergencies at his Oaks, PA rally.”
The ABC broadcaster explained that “30 minutes in, two attendees suffered medical emergencies” at the rally. The segment added, “The incidents shifted the mood, prompting Trump to cut the question short and instead play some of his favorite music.” Acknowledging how it could have been taken out of context, the broadcast stated, “In certain quarters of social media, people had a field day with that. And I guess on the screens, it might have looked quite strange.”
“Inside that hall, however, people were having a good time. What can I tell you? It did not seem out of the ordinary,” ABC said, dispelling the notion put forth by the Harris campaign. “It seemed almost intimate. And at the end, Trump did something he very rarely does. He came down off the stage and mingled with his supporters,” it added, explaining Trump’s engagement with his supporters. “He was signing autographs and shaking hands.”
Other users on social media weighed in on the misleading portrayal of Trump’s event, explaining that when the mainstream media is setting the record straight, it says something. “It’s bad when ABC is fact-checking Harris. I’m sure everyone there had a good time, and I noticed the host even mentioned the fact that it was a slow dwindling of attendees and most people stayed to enjoy the moment. You will NEVER see Kamala in personal situations like this,” conservative commentator Gunther Eagleman said.
