Former First Lady Melania Trump’s memoir, “Melania,” has reportedly shot up to the top of the New York Times bestseller list. Melania had been promoting the book for weeks, seeking to offer her side of the story amid incessant hostility her family has faced since former President Donald Trump shook up American politics.
Political commentator David Urban shared the news on X writing, “Congratulations to @MELANIATRUMP whose new book is quietly #1 on the @nytimes best sellers list 20 days prior to #Election2024.” Melania also shared a photo to X of the book, pointing out that it is currently at the top of the highly coveted list of bestselling books.
The former first lady had recently given an interview to Fox News to promote the upcoming release of her highly anticipated memoir. In part of her book she addressed the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. “So I had a lot of questions. What’s going on?” Melania said in the interview. She further blamed the mainstream media for creating a “toxic atmosphere” around her husband.
“It’s…this is not normal, and is it really shocking that all this courageous violence goes against my husband, especially that we hear the leaders from the opposition party and mainstream media branding him as a threat to democracy, calling him vile names, they only fueling a toxic atmosphere and giving power all of these people that they want to do harm to him,” she added. “This needs to stop. This needs to stop. The country needs to unite. And I encourage everybody to read my letter that I wrote on July 14, again, because that cannot continue,” she told host Ainsley Earhardt in the interview.
Melania also explained that the fashion industry prepared her for the intense nature of being in the White House. “I think nothing prepared me more to be first lady in front of the world than the fashion industry. the fashion industry, it’s glamorous, but it’s at the same time, very tough, and as everybody judges you, looks at you certain way. So it’s, it can be a mean world, as well. So, nothing prepared me more, for, for this world than fashion. It gives you a thick skin, so it was.” she said.
The former first lady also recounted her first date with former President Trump. “We went to the on the first date, if you could call it a date, because it was mixed with professionalism,” she said. “Completely understand now that I know him more, that was so it was so him, and I liked in one way about it, because I, you know, I was the same, and I love the vision that he had and the connection that we had.”
Melania continued, “It was very nice, because we were two of us alone in the car for hour, hour and a half, and it’s no other noise, no other people, because at that time, he was already known and a celebrity. So it was really nice to be just two of us.” Earhardt then asked, “Did you fall in love? Then?” Melania replied, “It was a connection. It was a connection.”
