During her Wednesday night interview with Fox News, Vice President Kamala Harris faced a number of tough questions from host Brett Baier, many of which focused on her record with illegal immigration and the southern border. However, one hard-hitting question about the consequences of the Biden-Harris administration’s controversial border policies appeared to rattle the vice president.
At one point during the interview, Baier highlighted criticism toward Vice President Harris and President Biden’s rescinding of Trump-era border policies when stepping into office, a move which many blame for the surge in illegal immigration over the past several years. As a result, many illegal aliens have been released into the American interior.
Furthermore, illegal immigrant men have gone on to commit heinous crimes, with cases such as Laken Riley and Jocelyn Nungaray shocking the public. The host played a clip of the mother of Nungaray, Rachel Moran, directly blaming the Biden-Harris administration’s policies for the death of her daughter. Baier then asked Harris if she owed an apology to the victims and their families.
“Do you regret the decision to terminate Remain in Mexico at the beginning of your administration, at the beginning of our administration, within practically hours of taking the oath? Baier asked, only for Harris to not directly answer the question and skirt around the issue. During the interview, Baier played a clip of Moran giving her testimony on the death of her young daughter.
“Because of the Biden Harris administration open border policies, catch and release, they were enrolled in the alternatives to detention program. This meant that they were released into the United States. It was not even a full three weeks later that they would take my daughter Jocelyn and Gray’s life. I believe the Biden Harris administration open border policies are responsible for the death of my daughter,” the mother of Jocelyn Nungaray said in the clip.
“That’s the early days. So do you owe them an apology is what I’m saying,” Baier asked. “I tell you that I am so sorry for her loss. I’m so sorry for her loss. Sincerely, but let’s talk about what is happening right now, with an individual who does not want to participate in solutions,” Harris responded.

Reacting to the incident on social media, conservative commentator Ian Miles Cheong said, “This was the damning moment Kamala Harris’ team decided to wrap up the interview with Bret Baier. Shown a clip of Jocelyn Nungaray’s mother condemning Kamala’s open policies for her daughter’s rape and murder by illegal aliens, Kamala let out a half-hearted apology and said, “…but let’s talk about Trump.” Disqualifying.”
Another person wrote, “That moment was a major red flag. Instead of addressing the real issue with genuine concern, Kamala deflected back to Trump. It wasn’t just a lack of empathy. It was a complete dodge of accountability. Disqualifying, no doubt.”
