Following Vice President Kamala Harris’ interview with Fox News on Wednesday night, host Bret Baier revealed that a handful of the Democratic presidential candidate’s staff were emphatically waving their arms attempting to end the interview. In a post-debate recap, Baier noted that four staffers were trying to communicate “it’s gotta stop” as the interview was going poorly for Harris.
Bret Baier told a Fox News panel after the Harris interview, “You know, I’m talking like four people waving their hands like, ‘it’s gotta stop!’” He added, “I had to dismount there at the end,” Baier also noted that there were far more topics he intended to ask the vice president, but was unable to get to them. “There are so many things, and she maybe should do more of these,” he said.
The segment cut to a clip of the interview’s conclusion where Baier acknowledged the “hard wrap” he was being given by unseen individuals off-camera. “Madam Vice President, they’re giving me a hard wrap,” Baier said to Harris as they concluded the discussion. The host also noted that it seemed as if the Harris campaign was trying to “ice the kicker,” presumably referring to himself as the kicker.
Discussing the delays to the interview, Baier said, “You know, when the kicker in football, they call a time out right before he’s going to kick the field goal, they’re icing the kicker.” He added, “So we were supposed to start 5pm we this was the time they gave us originally. We’re going to do 25 or 30 minutes. They came in and said, Well, maybe 20. So it was already getting whittled down. And then the vice president showed up about 515 we were pushing the envelope to be able to turn it around for the top of the six o’clock.”
Baier also noted how it was challenging to get Harris to directly and answer the questions he was posing, where she would attempt to obfuscate the topic and redirect the conversation with word salad answers. The host compared the interview to a time he sat down with former President Barrack Obama, who deployed similar tactics. Baier maintained that he had more questions that he was unable to get to as he spent considerable time trying to get Harris back on topic.
“So that’s how it started. And I could tell when we started talking that she was going to be tough to to, you know, redirect, without me trying to interrupt I did this with President Obama. At one point I just said, Mr. President, I know you like the filibuster. I just didn’t even have the chance to sometimes redirect in those ways. I had a lot of other questions,” he continued.

The American Tribune reported on Harris answers during the interview, where she began emphatically yelling about former President Donald Trump as she labeled him a threat to democracy. “He has talked about turning the American military on American people,” Harris said. “He has talked about going after people who are engaged in peaceful protest. He has talked about locking people up because they disagree with him.”
