During a recent press conference at the White House, Joe Biden was met with a chaotic scene where a crowd of reporters was indecipherably shouting at the president. As Biden was unable to bring order to the crowd, he blankly scanned the room, before White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stepped in to save the president from the unruly group of press members.
As the group continued to shout over each other, KJP stammered, “Sir…sir…no, no, I didn’t call on you sir, I didn’t call on you.” Users on social media reacted to the chaotic scenes while raising concerns about President Biden. “Confused Biden wanders into the press briefing room, stares into space for 30 seconds, Karine Jean-Pierre steps in to save him,” the conservative news network, “The First” wrote on X.
“I can’t hate on him because he can’t help his cognition. However, I can hate his administration for still throwing him out there like this. Everything they do is absolutely despicable and Kamala is going to carry the torch that will burn us down,” one person said, commenting on Biden’s appearance. “I’d say it’s time to invoke the 25th amendment but I genuinely believe Kamala Harris is 10 times worse than Joe Biden could ever be, however impaired he may be,” another person said.
After order was restored to the press briefing, Biden delivered damaging comments to Kamala Harris’ campaign after emphasizing the substantial role she has played in the administration. Harris has often distanced herself from criticism against the Biden administration as the vice president. However, this argument is defeated by Biden illustrating her responsibility and authority.
“There obviously been a number of crises been facing over the past several days with the hurricane. There have obviously been a number of crises that the country has been facing over the past several days with the hurricane, with the port strike, with the situation in the Middle East. Can you talk about how your vice president, who is running for the presidency, has worked on these crises, and what role she has played over the past several days?” a reporter asked Biden.
“Well, she’s, I’m in constant contact with her. She’s aware where we all were singing from the same song sheet. We she helped pass all the laws that are being employed now. She was a major player in everything we’ve done, including passage of legislation, which we were told we could never pass, And so she’s been, and her her staff is interlocked with mine, in terms of all the things we’re doing,” Biden answered.
Conservative commentator Collin Rugg shared a clip of the incident to X, writing, “White House briefing room descends into chaos as President Biden stands in front of shouting reporters, not knowing who to call on. Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre jumped in to save Biden as reporters shouted at him, trying to ask questions. At one point during the briefing, Biden made sure to let reporters know that all his policies also belong to Kamala Harris, something Harris has been trying to distance herself from.”
