MSNBC host of “All In,” Chris Hayes, went “all in” on trying to defend Brandon on Twitter. Predictably given Biden’s checkered past, present, and future, that went poorly, with the internet doing what it does best and absolutely shredding Hayes in the comments section.
Ironically, the whole thing began with tweet from Never Trumper RINO Jonah Goldberg, who said “I think Santos is a total embarrassment and has no place in public life. But a lot of folks on this site dinging him seem to have forgotten how much both the current president and his predecessor “embellished” about their accomplishments.”
Responding, Chris Hayes said “I think there’s a line between “normal” politican bs-ing and conman serial lying, and he’s got infractions on either side of that line. I mean it would have been a pretty big deal if it turned out Joe Biden didn’t actually have a law degree!”
Predictably, Jonah Goldberg tried hedging and showing that he’s a fair critic of both sides, saying “I agree. But I thought Biden’s “embellishments” were disqualifying decades ago. And obviously I thought Trump’s were (though he had greater disqualifying issues).”
The rest of the internet, however, was not so kind to Hayes. Instead, it went absolutely scorched earth on him. One commenter, for example, said:
sure, Biden lied about being the first in his family to go to college, lied about his scholarship, lied about finishing in the top half of his class, lied about having 3 undergrad degrees, and lied about being a professor.
but, by God, the law degree is real!
they will always find wiggle room. always.
just some normal politician bs-ing, folks. it’s part of ol uncle joe’s charm!
where, exactly, does lying about your wife being killed by a drunk driver and lying about your son dying while serving in iraq fall on the “normal politician bs-ing” scale?
none of this is a defense of Santos, who’s obviously a degenerate liar. just trying to figure out the rules.
Similarly, another commenter pointed out how absurd it was for Hayes to bring up Biden’s law school days given his lies about it, saying “Being a “journalist” I’m sure you could easily research into how he lied about being top of his class with a double major and plagiarizing his speeches. But that wouldn’t be convenient now would it?”
On the same note, yet another commenter said “He lied almost everything everything else. Didn’t have a full ride. Finished in the bottom 12% of his class. Plagiarized a paper his 1L year. Didn’t compete in an international moot court competition, let alone win it.”
Another made a joke about one of Biden’s most infamous and weirdest stories, saying “Weirdest part of the 2020 election remains that Corn Pop turned out to be real.”
Another posted a video and said “Watch Joe Biden spout off a string of uninterrupted lies in 1987. He had to drop out of the race for this and the Neil Kinnock plagiarism.”
And, of course, there were the comments about Biden’s lies during his presidency, with one commenter responding to a comment about Biden’s past lies by saying “And has Biden ever stopped? He lied about talking to Hunter about foreign deals. He lied about economy. He continues to lie.”
So Hayes got demolished…hilarious.
