Republican Vice Presidential Candidate JD Vance recently offered a brilliant rebuttal to a biased reporter from the mainstream media during a campaign event. As the left continues to paint Republicans as threats to Democracy, hammering Vance with questions about the 2020 election, the Ohio senator maintains that focusing on the upcoming election that is just weeks away is far more critical.
During the vice presidential debate against Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Vance was asked about the results of the controversial 2020 election. The reporter at the campaign event pressed the senator, asking him why he didn’t give a direct answer as to who won the last election. Echoing his answer during the debate, Vance emphasized that the focus should be on the election roughly a month away.
The reporter from a local news station asked the Republican Vice Presidential candidate, “I spoke with some elected officials, or election officials, last week about their concern about people who are trying to undermine our elections. Why didn’t you answer the question last night during the debate about who won the 2020, presidential election?”
Vance responded that setting his sights on the 2024 election and defeating Vice President Kamala Harris is of the utmost importance. “Well, look, here’s here, here’s the simple reason the media is obsessed with talking about the election of four years ago. I’m focused on the election of 33 days from now because I want to throw Kamala Harris out of office and get back to common sense economic policies,” he said.
Continuing, Vance spoke about the need to restore confidence in the integrity of the U.S. election. Former President Trump’s running mate called out that congressional Democrats blocked critical legislation that would prevent illegal immigrants from undermining the sovereignty of U.S. citizens and voting in elections.
“But I also think you can believe that America needs to have secure and free elections. But also talk about the fact that just a couple of weeks ago, Democrats in the US Congress blocked a piece of legislation that would have ensured illegal aliens don’t vote in our elections,” Vance said, echoing the concerns of many Americans that the massive influx of illegal immigrants could impact the 2024 election.
Vance defied the hostile narrative Democrats have touted against Republicans, claiming that the right is a threat to the nation’s Democratic procedures. To the contrary, the Republican congressman outlined how he seeks to guarantee the integrity of American elections, specifically ensuring that only legal citizens are casting ballots. Throughout the Biden-Harris administration, the GOP has advocated for legislation to require proof of citizenship to vote. However, these efforts have been shot down by Democrats.
“If you believe in American democracy, if you believe in our constitutional republic, you should be trying to strengthen American election integrity and not weaken it. So we’re going to talk about election integrity, because I believe that every vote on account, but only the legally cast votes, and that’s why we fight for election integrity, and that’s why we care so much,” he said.
A parody account based on Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene applauded Sen. Vance for how well he handled the reporter, calling the reporter that Sen. Vance obliterated a “fake news reporter,” saying, “HOLY SH*T 🚨 J.D. Vance just dropped the 🎤 on this Fake News Reporter. This is how it’s done 👏” Watch Vance below:
