Luis Sajbocho-Ordonez, a 30-year-old man, found himself in the situation of Marv and Harry, the “Wet Bandits” from Home Alone, when he attempted to rob a business at 1 am on Christmas morning. Like the Wet Bandits, he suffered some serious injuries and is now facing some serious charges: armed robbery and aggravated assault charges.
Apparently, Luis Sajbocho-Ordonez hid behind the business, which is located in Gainesville, GA, about 50 miles northeast of Atlanta, with a gun and tried robbing one of the business’s employees in the wee hours of Christmas morning.
The robbery went wrong, however, when the employee fought back and got into a physical altercation with Sajbocho-Ordonez, who was fired upon by another employee who was exiting the building. Though the bullet fired by the employee hit no one, it spooked Sajbocho-Ordonez, who ran away. Or, at least he tried to run away.
And that’s where the likeness to Home Alone comes in, as Sajbocho-Ordonez tried running away but, like the Wet Bandits, found himself on the losing end of a battle with an ice patch. When he slipped on the ice patch when attempting to flee, Sajbocho-Ordonez fell and hit his head.
He was then subdued by witnesses, who took his two firearms away from him and kept him under control until police arrived to deal with the situation. “Like a scene from Home Alone,” Gainesville police wrote. “Fortunately, no serious injuries occurred and the perp went to jail.”
They also posted an image with more specific details about what happened, saying:
“On Sunday, December 25, 2022 at around 1:00 AM, police responded to 415 Atlanta Highway in regards to an armed robbery.
“Responding officers located the perpetrator, Luis Sajbocho-Ordonez, 30, of Gainesville lying injured on the icy ground. Sajbocho allegedly hid behind the business, pulled a gun on an employee as they exited and demanded cahs. A physical altercation ensued between the employee andSajbocho. Another employee exited the rear of the building, spooking Sajbocho, causing him to fire a shot and run off. The shot did no strike anyone.
“In his attempt to get away, Sajbocho fell on ice, hitting his head. Witnesses were able to get two guns away from Sajbocho while he was laying injured on the ground.
“Police arrived moments later and took Sajbocho into custody. Emergency crews were called to treat Sajbocho’s injuries. He was transported to the Hall County Jail.
“Sajbocho is charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault. Additional charges are possible.”
