Former President Donald Trump recently sounded off on ABC News over the controversial presidential debate earlier this month. The Republican presidential candidate maintained that the event was “unfair” while suggesting it was the “worst and most dishonorable” in unapologetic criticism. Trump also called out David Muir over his controversial job as a moderator during the debate.
Conservative critics have blasted ABC News in the aftermath of the September 10 debate. Many viewers felt that it was a coordinated 3-against-1 attack against former President Trump, as the bias from the moderators, David Muir and Linsay Grace, was undeniable. Throughout the evening, Trump was constantly fact-checked, having the moderators interject to question the validity of his statements while refraining from doing so when Harris spoke.
Amid reports that Trump would sue the network over the debate, Trump took to social media, dispelling such notions. “It is a totally false story that I am going to sue lightweight anchor David Muir of ABC FAKE NEWS, perhaps the worst and most dishonorable network in broadcasting!” the former president wrote on his Truth Social platform.
However, Trump maintained that the network displayed great bias during the debate, but emphasized that it would not detract from his promise to Americans to fulfill his MAGA agenda. “Despite an unfair and unethical 3 on 1, I easily won the recent Debate. My sole focus is to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump said.
The message from Trump was shared to X by the popular account, @TrumpDailyPosts. Users commented under the post praising the remarks from the Republican challenger. “Trump just wants the country he loves to remain the same country and not fall under communist rule,” one person wrote.
Another called out the bias from the moderators, writing, “Of all the liberal unfair broadcasters I think David Muir has hope. He looked miserable and I think they made him do it. That’s not fair but who knows what they told him. I bet a one-on-one with him unassociated with ABC (if that’s possible) would be very different,” they said.
The American Tribune reported on other recent comments from Trump regarding the debate, in which he claimed that the ABC News debate moderators broke the debate rules. Trump said, “And during the debate, I mentioned that and David Muir, a real lightweight. I had one against three, but I think we did great. But David Muir of ABC, fake news, when I said that crime is way up in our country, he corrected me, he corrected me and so much and it was right what I said.”
Trump also called out the moderators for refusing to fact check Kamala Harris even once during the whole event. “He didn’t correct [Vice President Kamala Harris] one time, and what she said was wrong, absolutely wrong,” he said. “So many different— Charlottesville, she was wrong, all of the different things, almost everything she said, and she was never corrected. But he corrected me on crime. He said, ‘No, no, crime has not gone up.’ I said crime has gone up massively. He said, ‘I’d like to state for the record that crime has not gone up.’”
