In a wild and ridiculous rant that he recorded on camera and was shared to the internet by “Project Liberal,” former Republican Governor of California and 80s action movie star par excellence Arnold Schwarzenegger went on the attack against former President Donald Trump, accusing him of being selfish and cynical in his political comments and agenda.
Arnold, as background, presented himself as a moderate Republican when he got involved in California politics. He served as governor of the Golden State from 2003 to 2011, with his political career derailed by his increasing unpopularity in the state as the years dragged on. He is also known for an affair he was caught having with his maid, something that many would refer to as selfish.
In any case, it was partly on that basis that he attacked Trump in the recent video posted to X by Project Liberal after comparing Trump and the MAGA movement to the fascism disaster that struck Europe in the mid-twentieth century, which Arnold brought up in the beginning of the video as a way of attacking Trump for his supposed attempts to weaken “democracy” in America.
Beginning on that ridiculous note, given that Trump is far from being anywhere near Hitler, to whom Arnold was hinting, in policy, personality, or beliefs, Arnold said, “I grew up in the ruins of a country that suffered the loss of its democracy. It all started with lies and lies and lies and intolerance. So being from Europe, I’ve seen firsthand how things can spin out of control.”
Continuing, Arnold warned that the same sort of thing could happen in America thanks to “selfishness and cynicism,” saying, “I know there is a fear in this country and all over the world that something like this could happen right here now. I do not believe it is but I do believe that we must be aware of the dire consequences of selfishness and cynicism.”
Then, once again comparing Trump to Hitler and denigrating his own father, a Nazi, in the process, Arnold said, “President Trump sought to overturn the results of an election and of a fair election. He saw the coup by misleading people with lies. My father and our neighbors, were misled also with lies, and I know where such lies lead you.”

Arnold’s video was somewhat odd given that, just last year, he went on Rob Lowe’s podcast and attacked the Democrats, saying, when asked what it means to be a Democrat, “Ruin your cities. That’s what the Democrats would say. We are about ruining the cities. We want to f— up every city in America. That seems to be the theme right now.”
