Famous chef Guy Fieri recently spoke about his use of a psychic medium to help with his grief after his father passed away. The 56-year-old celebrity chef, known for his show “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives,” sat down for an interview where he discussed the hardships surrounding the loss of his dad, Jim, who was 81 years old at the time of his passing.
During an appearance on “In Depth with Graham Bensinger,” Fiere said, “It screwed me up… a few days of, ‘I don’t want to talk to anybody. I don’t want to see anybody, just leave me alone,’” speaking about his spiritual experience. The famous chef explained that his friend, which he didn’t know “really well,” was a medium who was receiving communications from his deceased father.
According to Fieri his medium friend told him, “Your dad is blowing me up… Your dad is all over me about you. He just wants you to know…” From their the chef noted that his acquaintance began “depicting to me things that nobody in the world would know what’s going on.” Fieri recalled, “It is goosebump city what I’m telling you.”
The chef recounted how the medium told him that communications with the dead allegedly take several days to manifest, but Fieri’s dad came forward after just two days. “She goes, ‘And they don’t come to me like this. It’s usually like five or six days.’ This was like day two,” Fieri claimed. “She said, ‘He’s really hell-bent at getting in touch with you.’ So that helped.”
Fieri noted that his experience with the medium was transformational, leading him to pursue different funeral arrangements for his late father. “She’s not full of s—. I mean, I trust Karen quite a bit. All the things that I said I wouldn’t do — I wasn’t going to go for the cremation part and take him there. I wasn’t going to go do that. I was just, ‘I don’t want any part of this,’” he said.
“Something changed, took a whole different thing… it was the weirdest… I surprised myself about how I handled it,” he continued, describing how the interaction provided him so form of reassurance amid the challenging loss.“And not that I didn’t bawl my eyes out, and not that I don’t have my regret, not all that. It was just a different thing.”
Furthermore, Fieri noted that he grew significantly closer with his mother. “The funny thing is, out of everything that’s happened, it has made me probably 10 times closer to my mom,” he said. “Not that my mom and I have not always been super close, but we’ve been close… in that we’re so similar in personality that there was a little bit of…it’s like when you’re too close to the person that you can almost be little smart asses together,” he said.
