During a recent town hall hosted by former President Donald Trump, two University of Wisconsin-La Crosse college students were interviewed on why they chose to back the Republican presidential candidate in an overtly hostile environment toward conservatives on college campuses. Decked out in their Trump merchandise, the girls made it clear they support Trump because he “gets things done for the country” and “he’s real.”
A reporter interviewing the college students asked them what exactly it was that drew them to the Republican presidential candidate. “You know, you always think you know who Trump supporters are. And I meet these girls from UWL Sophia and Brooke. You guys bonded freshman year. And then you come to have something in common. What is it about Donald Trump that you like?” the girls were asked.
One of the girls sporting a red MAGA had said, “I just like that. He’s a man that stands on his business. He gets things done for the country. That’s why like and he’s real, so.” The reporter followed up, “And I just have to say this, your story is really unique, because it’s not so popular all the time. You know how politics can be in colleges or very liberal. How were you guys received when people heard who you were voting for?”
The other girl, who wore a white Trump hat with his image from the failed assassination attempt where Trump raised his fist and yelled “fight,” said, “It was amazing when waiting in the lines to get in, and the concessions and all the people around us, easy to talk to, and they’re super nice to us, and it’s such a great experience, and I’m proud to be an American.”
The Trump War Room account posted footage of the interview to X, writing, “University of Wisconsin-La Crosse student: “I just like that he’s a man that stands on his business. He gets things done for the country—and he’s real.” The female university students received an outpouring of praise on social media for their unashamed support for former President Trump. Conservative influencer Paul A. Szypula agreed with the girls’ comments writing, “Trump is real, that’s not mentioned enough.”
One person wrote, “Well done ladies! My first vote was cast for Ronald Reagan in the 80’s. This is the same energy we had in college and we swept the map on election night. We all volunteered. We fought the good fight to save our country and to right the ship. Let’s do it again!” Another user joked, “Where is the green hair and facial piercings? Oh wait, this isn’t a Kamala rally.”
One X user commented under the video suggesting that the average Trump supporter is far more educated than the average Kamala Harris voter. “Trump supporters ratio of educated on the issues compared to not it’s probably 70% educated 30% not Kamala’s supporters are 10% educated on her policies and issues and 90% not educated!” they said.
