Former President Donald Trump recently walked into a small Vietnamese restaurant in northern Virginia. The customers were delighted to see the Republican presidential candidate and greeted him with praise and enthusiasm. Trump visited Truong Tien Vietnamese Restaurant in Falls Church, Virginia, alongside Hung Cao, a U.S. Senate candidate in the Old Dominion.
Cao is a graduate of the Naval Academy who also served in combat. The veteran is seeking to defeat incumbent Democrat Sen. Tim Kaine. Previously that day, Cao joined former President Trump in visiting the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery, where he laid a wreath in honor of the 13 members of the U.S. military who were killed during the withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.
When Trump entered the Vietnamese restaurant with Cao, the patrons burst into enthusiastic applause. “Somehow, I don’t know what it is — you’ll have to explain it — the Vietnamese community loves me, and I love them,” Trump said, to which the restaurant goers began chanting, “USA! USA! USA!” “In Florida, we go down and we have large groups of people, always dressed perfectly, with the red and the silver. I say, ‘You’re the most beautiful dressers I’ve ever seen,’” Trump added.
The former president then told Cao, “I love his name — Hung Cao. I love that name, and that name alone should get you elected.” He noted that Republicans have big goals for Virginia, stating, “We’re looking to win the state,” he said, “which is not necessarily good for Republicans, but I’m not an average Republican, and neither are you.” After both finished speaking, one customer yelled: “Make America great again!” Trump proceeded to sign autographs, where one person told him, “We will fight for you, sir.” Another person emphasized, “We need you for the next four years.”
Cao recently spoke at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. “In November, the left will vote for the hatred of one man,” the Virginia Republican said, blasting the left. “We will vote for love: love of God, love of family, and love for the greatest nation on earth.” Cao was met with a positive reception at the RNC as a fresh candidate for the GOP.
The American Tribune recently reported on other comments from former President Trump who outlined his goals to combat the inflation of the Biden-Harris administration. “I am announcing today that, under my leadership, the U.S. will commit to the ambitious goal of slashing energy and electricity prices by half — at least. Half!” he said. “We intend to slash prices in half within 12 months, at a maximum 18 months,” he noted.
Trump maintained that “every single thing that I promised, I produced.” He continued, “We think that your energy bills will be down by 50%-70%. How good would that be for a thing called inflation?” The former president went on, “To further combat inflation, I will terminate Kamala Harris’ ‘green new scam’ and … give all of the unspent funds back to building roads, bridges and give it back to the government. It’s like what she did, what they did, it’s like throwing billions of dollars out the window.”
