Conservative activist Robby Starbuck has recently made it his mission to expose as many woke companies as possible and compel them to abandon their leftist corporate agendas regarding issues such as diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and other social causes. The latest company that Starbuck focused his attention on was the prominent home improvement department store Lowe’s.
However, seeing the impact that the conservative activist has had on other companies, all it took for Lowe’s to scrap its woke agenda was Starbuck reaching out to them, without even having to make a video about the company. “Big news: I messaged @Lowes executives last week to let them know that I planned to expose their woke policies. This morning I woke up to an email where they preemptively made big changes,” he posted on X.
According to an internal memo from executive leadership at Lowe’s, the company had already begun reevaluating its DEI stance after the Supreme Court ruling on affirmative action last year. “Like many other companies, in July 2023, after the Supreme Court’s decision in the Harvard/UNC cases, we began reviewing our diversity and inclusion programs to ensure that they are lawful and aligned with our commitment to include everyone in the incredible opportunities at Lowe’s and ensure that no one is excluded,” the memo said.
In a video statement about the news, Starbuck said, “I got great news for you. We have another company that we were set to expose, Lowe’s. However, I sent a message to Lowe’s last week, and I woke up to something interesting in my email inbox, it looks like we don’t even need to do these videos exposing these companies anymore, at least not every company, because many of them are willing to just change their policies as soon as I reach out now.”
The activist noted that in his statement to Lowe’s, he expressed conservative criticisms of DEI being implemented in business areas such as hiring policies and employee bonuses. However, in a response to Starbuck, the company noted that it would no longer pursue these initiatives, listing numerous efforts that it would be abandoning.
Starbuck continued, “So what policies are changing? Lowe’s will no longer be participating in the HRCS woke Corporate Equality Index social credit scoring system. Lowe’s is also getting rid of their individual ERG groups that separates people across identity politics lines by what kind of sex they like or what color they are. Now Lowe’s employees will all be under one umbrella, ERG, not separated on identity lines based on what kind of sex they like or what color they are.”
He added the Lowe’s would be reallocating philanthropic resources toward more relevant causes to the business. “And if you look at this part, Lowe’s is also promising no more donations to pride festivals, pride parades or anything that’s a divisive thing outside of these core three areas that they’ve identified as important to their business, and those three areas make sense their community improvement, disaster relief and skilled trades, education, you know, things actually associated with Lowe’s business,” he added.
