Since former independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy ended his bid for the presidency and endorsed former President Donald Trump, woke celebrities and other leftists have lashed out at RFK Jr. for the monumental move that is likely to hurt Vice President Kamala Harris. A number of Hollywood icons took to social media to voice their frustration with Kennedy.
Bradley Whitford blasted Kennedy for allegedly supporting an agenda to limit abortion rights. “What a sad, broken, human being @RobertKennedyJr is. Happy to sacrifice a woman’s right to choose, destroy the planet he pretended to care for, even desecrate his own father’s legacy. All in a grievance fueled dry-drunk pursuit of his pathetic replacement addiction, attention,” he posted on X.
“A broken deeply disturbed person,” Sandra Bernhard wrote, sharing an image of a letter signed by a handful of members from the broader Kennedy family denouncing their relative. “RFK Jr. and Donald Trump. A sorrier pair could hardly be imagined,” Star Trek actor George Takei added.
Outspoken liberal actor Rob Reiner posted a profane statement slamming Kennedy’s move. “I’ve known Bobby Kennedy for quite a while. Something has happened to him. Maybe it’s the worm that got into his brain, but saying Trump will protect your freedoms and keep America from becoming a totalitarian state, he’s out of his f*cking mind,” he posted.
The American Tribune reported on other outrage from the left directed at Kennedy’s wife, Cheryl Hines, after his withdrawal from the race and subsequent endorsement of Trump. Hines shared a supportive statement toward her husband, drawingw substantial backlash from leftists.
Hines wrote, “The decision has been made to suspend my husband’s, Robert Kennedy Jr.’s, presidency and I’d like to extend a sincere, deeply heartfelt thank you to every person who has worked so tirelessly and lovingly on his campaign. They have accomplished feats that were said to be impossible. They have gathered over a million signatures, more than any candidate in history, and have achieved ballot access across the country despite the roadblocks and lawsuits that have been brought against them for the sole purpose of keeping Bobby off of the ballots so no one would even have the opportunity to vote for him.”
She continued, “I deeply respect the decision Bobby made to run on the principle of unity,” she added. “Over the last year and a half, I have met some extraordinary people from all parties — Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. It’s been my experience that the vast majority of all parties are truly good people who want the best for our country and for each other. It has been an eye-opening, transformative, and endearing journey.”
Columnist Norman Ornstein criticized Hines, urging her to endorse Harris instead of joining the “Trump cult.” “Now if you have even a shred of integrity, you will endorse Kamala Harris. Otherwise, you are signing on as a member of the Trump cult,” he said. Another person commented, “You know you never had a chance and this was always the goal. You suck. I can’t even enjoy the episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm with you in them anymore.” Another user said, “Sorry, Cheryl — loved you on Curb but like your husband, you are a huge letdown.”
