In yet more hilarity to come from Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter), billionaire investor and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was obliterated by funny commenters over a wild tweet he posted about Walz and Harris. Namely, Cuban was roasted for claiming that Walz is a welcome character to whom people will warm as they get to know him better.
Cuban’s post came in the wake of Harris’s decision to tap Walz as her running mate after President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 race and tapped her, his Vice President, as his anointed successor. Many on the right celebrated her surprising decision to choose the far-left Walz, gloating that his woke past would make her easier to defeat.
Beginning, Cuban claimed that people would like Walz more as they got to like him and that the same thing happened with Kamala. In his words: “On the @tim_walz choice, I think people who don’t like it are missing the lesson of the switch to Harris. She went from worst to first as people got to know her. It’s not a reach to think the same thing will happen with Walz.”
Continuing, he claimed that voters somehow find Walz warm and welcoming and that such behavior is wanted more than ideologues. He said, “People are tired of the ideologues and hate from both parties. They want to vote for normal people they can relate to. Walz can sit at the kitchen table and make you feel like you have know him forever. That’s an incredible skill these days.”
As might be expected, the conservative X sphere found the tweet and roasted Cuban for his claims. For example, the Daily Wire’s Jeremy Boering said, “This is crap. Kamala went from worst to first, alright. But not when people ‘got to know her.’ She hasn’t been asked a difficult question, hasn’t submitted to a challenging interview, has t told us what she thinks or believes on any issue…”
He continued, “It’s precisely because people haven’t gotten to know her that she is ascendent. The combined power of almost every institution in public life has united to convince America she is wonderful without requiring her to reveal herself at all. If she does, it will not be a “normal” person America sees at all.”
Similarly, conservative commentator Ashley St. Clair said, “Walz is a communist who supported the BLM riots, Mark. I really don’t think there is anybody the overlords at your party could have chosen that you would have actually critiqued if you think Walz isn’t just as radical as those you criticize on the other side.”
Cuban freaked out in a comment in reply to St. Clair’s comment about Walz being a communist who supported riots, saying, “He never pardoned the May 2020 Minneapolis hostages, did he ? Didn’t write a song with them. Never interceded at all. Why do people on here call everyone they don’t like a Communist ?”
Another commenter on Cuban’s post disputed his claim about Kamala being more popular as people get to know her, saying that the truth is the opposite of that. That commenter said, “Or…Kamala Harris went from worst to first because they hid her away. Literally the more she speaks and people get to know her, the worse she does.”
