Elon Musk recently stated that only Blue subscribers on Twitter will be allowed to vote in policy-related polls going forward. This policy update comes after the results of a Twitter poll from Musk indicated he should step down as CEO of the social media platform.
On Sunday, Musk posted a poll to his Twitter account asking users, “Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll.”

After well over 17 million votes were submitted, the results indicated a majority wished to see Elon cede control of Twitter to someone else. Musk has been consistently using Twitter polls to gauge the interest of users in policy decisions being made on the platform. For example, prior to the reinstatement of Donald Trump’s account, Musk posted a poll asking if the former president should be unbanned.

Following the tight results of the poll, where just over half of respondents voted to reinstate Trump, Elon Tweeted, “Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” and proceeded to unban the former president. “Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” translates to “the voice of the people is the voice of God,” representing the democratic nature of Musk’s leadership at Twitter.
However, the German-Finnish entrepreneur Kim Dotcom provided an interesting perspective on the use of Twitter polling to direct internal policy.
Dotcom tweeted:
Hey @elonmusk, it’s unwise to run a poll like this when you are now deep state enemy #1. They have the biggest bot army on Twitter. They have 100k ‘analysts’ with 30-40 accounts all voting against you. Let’s clean up and then run this poll again. The majority has faith in you.
I’m hoping that Elon did this poll as a honeypot to catch all the deep state bots. The dataset for this poll will contain most of them. Some good data-mining and he could kill them all in one go
“Interesting,” Musk replied.
Another user, Unfiltered Boss, commented on the matter suggesting that only Blue subscribers should have to privilege of voting in Twitter polls. This would be an effective method of preventing bots from swaying the results of a poll.
Unfiltered Boss said, “Blue subscribers should be the only ones that can vote in policy related polls. We actually have skin in the game.” Elon responded, “Good point. Twitter will make that change.”
As of now Elon Musk has not confirmed if he will abide by the results of his poll and step down as the head of Twitter. However, the internet is filled with rumors suggesting Elon is actively searching for a replacement.
Twitter user Chuck Callesto tweeted:
“BREAKING REPORT: Rumors now swirling that Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner has emerged as Elon Musk’s pick for Twitter CEO…
“I don’t care who runs twitter as long as the same rules apply for everyone. They BANNED Mike [Lindell] and DESTROYED everyone who supports him. Can NEVER happen again.”

The left has been celebrating the results of the poll urging Musk to step down. However, it’s not confirmed this will even happen and if it does it may be someone they detest even more than Elon.
