Vice presidential candidate JD Vance recently trolled presumptive Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, who hid in her plane as he attempted to speak with her. Vance walked over to a gaggle of press on the tarmac and explained that, other than greeting Harris, he wanted to go inspect Air Force Two, which he claimed would be “his plane” in just a few months.
“I just, I just wanted to check out my future plane, but I also wanted to go say hello to the Vice President and ask her why Kamala Harris refuses…Why does she refuse to answer questions from the media?” Vance said calling out Harris for refusing to take questions from the press. “And I also thought that the press gaggle following her might get a little lonely,” he added.
Vance pointed out that, unlike Kamala, he was more than willing to interact with the press and take questions. “I at least have enough respect for you all and for the American people you report to come and talk to you and to answer some questions. And so I thought her reporters might actually benefit from that as well. So had a little bit of fun,” he said.
While Vance claimed Harris did not reciprocate his efforts to speak with her, he noted that he was glad to have tried reaching out. “I don’t think the Vice President waved at me and she drove away, but I’m glad to have done it, and I’m glad to be here in Wisconsin actually trying to persuade people to vote for us, as opposed to just giving another scripted speech. You did see the vice president. I saw her car. I did not see the vice president. The windows are tinted. I did not speak to her,” he continued. “I think she was trying to get the hell out of there as quickly as possible. But I did speak to a lot of the press gaggle following her.”
When asked why the Trump campaign was tailing Harris in her campaign stops, Vance illustrated how the battleground states will ultimately decide the election. “Look, there are six or seven states here to decide the entire election. We think it’s important to get out there to talk to people, to make the best case that we can. And obviously there’s an element of especially local media is going to cover her, because she’s the Vice President and the presumptive nominee,” Trump’s running mate pointed out.
Vance further elaborated that they must highlight Harris’ awful record to voters in these areas, stating, “So we think it’s important to have a counter narrative here, and importantly, to drive home this point that she has been a dangerous radical. She has pursued very far left policies, from defunding the police to opening the American Southern border to increasing the price of housing and groceries on Americans this. This happened because of her policies, and I think it’s important that the American people actually know that.”
“And again, I really can’t believe she’s been a substantive nominee for 17 days and she hasn’t taken a real question from reporters,” Vance said doubling down on his criticism that Harris is seemingly elusive to the press. When asked if the vice president is “harder to find” that President Biden, Vance replied, “No, I think she’s actually I think I want your easier to find because President Biden, because there’s so many absurd video clips of her saying things that are totally outside the mainstream.”
