As a crime wave hammers blue cities and states that limit gun rights to whatever extent they’re able, Americans are seeing more and more examples of why firearm rights are important: with a gun, you can face down criminals, but without one, you’re generally at their mercy.
Such was the hard-learned lesson for all involved during a broad-daylight robbery attempt in Houston, Texas. There, a pair of criminals followed a man home and tried mugging him…on his doorstep…in broad daylight. Talk about brazeness.
But in this case, fortune didn’t favor the bold. It favored the man’s armed wife, who used a
According to the report in ABC 7 Chicago on what happened:
On Nov. 27, Houston police responded to reports of an attempted robbery in the 9000 block of Shady Lane.
Authorities say the woman’s husband was working outside of his house when he noticed a black four-door vehicle drive by his home slowly.
The man said the car made a U-turn and drove back towards his home and two men exited the vehicle and quickly ran up to him with guns.
The men then dragged him inside of his home and demanded money.
The man’s wife heard the commotion and grabbed a gun. She came out of the bedroom and pointed the gun at the two men, who then turned and shot towards her and ran away.
The two black men involved in the robbery attempt, according to the description given to police, were both about 6 feet tall and over 200 pounds. So massive men that the woman normally wouldn’t have been able to stand up to. But she was armed, so she was able to not just face them down, but scare them off. Louder with Crowder, commenting on that fact, said:
Remember kids, especially since there’s another Democrat debate tonight, when the candidates say gun “reform,” what they really mean is gun “control.” Which would’ve made it harder for this woman to defend her home and her family from criminals who, by definition, don’t abide by the law.
The woman was, despite being shot at by the two attempted robbers, uninjured.
While the left claims that guns cause crime, the truth is quite the opposite, as found by an FEE report on the matter. In its words:
- Guns prevent an estimated 2.5 million crimes a year, or 6,849 every day. Most often, the gun is never fired, and no blood (including the criminal’s) is shed.
- Every year, 400,000 life-threatening violent crimes are prevented using firearms.
- 60 percent of convicted felons admitted that they avoided committing crimes when they knew the victim was armed. Forty percent of convicted felons admitted that they avoided committing crimes when they thought the victim might be armed.
- Felons report that they avoid entering houses where people are at home because they fear being shot.
- Fewer than 1 percent of firearms are used in the commission of a crime
