Oppenheimer Star Josh Harnett recently explained why he has kept his wife and children away from the Hollywood environment. Instead, the “Oppenheimer” star has opted to raise his family in the English countryside, seeking for his children to have a “normal upbringing” that would be difficult to do in Los Angeles.
During an interview with the People magazine, Hartnett said, “Dad has to go to work, and they do know what I do — they have come to sets — but they don’t understand the thing yet. And I’m glad that they don’t.” He added, “We’ll try and keep them away from it as much as possible because we want them to have normal upbringings.”
The actor, who has starred in major films, such as “Pearl Harbor” and “Black Hawk Down,” explained that Hollywood is more than just a physical location, where proximity to the atmosphere brings about a versy specific mindset. “Hollywood is more than a place; it’s like a state of mind. If you’re around people who are constantly talking about the movie business, your life is going to be pretty much one note. And I’ve never wanted that,” he told the outlet.
Speaking about the density and reliance on cars in the City of Angels, he said, “I just never really vibed with L.A. because I’m not a big fan of sitting in the car all day.” Hartnett voiced a common sentiment toward California that is shared by many other celebrities and actors who have packed up and left the Golden State in recent years.
Earlier this year, The American Tribune reported on comments from fitness celebrity Jillian Michaels, who explained why she left California, as things “got too crazy” for her. Sitting down for an interview with former EPSN host-turned conservative commentator Sage Steele, Michaels outlined how the political climate became too extreme for her liking.
She said, “I grew up here. I’m a woman. I’m a gay woman. My mom’s a Jew. My dad’s an Arab. I have a black kid, and believe it or not, my son is half Latin, even though he doesn’t look like it. I hold a million cards in your game of woke victimology poker, and when I leave California, maybe you’ve lost your mind, just maybe Liga when you when you have me running from home, maybe it’s gone way too far.”
Michaels continued, “And you know, I actually take this, this line from Bill and Elon Musk, and they’re like, I actually haven’t changed. The world around me is shifting and I haven’t moved. So some of these laws that are passing here are absolutely mind-boggling in relation to crime, protecting our kids, we’re decriminalizing everything, which arguably, I would probably be okay with, but we’re not regulating any of it,” she said.
