Famous rapper Waka Flocka Flame recently emphasized his support for former President Donald Trump. Over the past few years, the rapper, whose real name is Juaquin James Malphurs, has unapologetically voiced his support for the Republican presidential candidate. As the race heats up between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, Mr. Flame doubled down on his loyalty to Trump, maintaining, “Trump is still my president.”
Flame wrote on X, “Trump still my president I don’t have to stand with a red hat or dance or stage for money in my pockets… didn’t push me this direction… this is my choice like I choose not to eat pork but do that make me hate pork lovers or disrespect their character…nor will I act like…”. The rapper’s message of support followed a media attack on Trump, claiming he was racist after he appeared at the National Association of Black Journalists conference in Chicago.
Leading up to the election, other prominent rappers have made headlines for supporting former President Trump. The America Tribune reported on statements from Lil Pump, in which he criticized Vice President Kamala Harris, calling her the “Worst VP in American history,” while endorsing Trump in the 2024 election.
“First off, Kamala Harris is not black, she’s Indian. She’s locked up over fifteen hundred people, for weed-related bulls***. And then she laughed about it. We’ve seen the mess that you and Biden have created in the past three years, and the only person who would can clean it up is Donald Trump baby!” Lil Pump said in a video uploaded to social media. He wrote in another post, “Kamala Harris isn’t even black… she’s Indian. She locked up over 1,500 people for weed-related crimes and then laughed about it years later. The worst VP in American History.”
The American Tribune reported on some of Trump’s comments at the NABJ, where he defended his record with the black community and blasted a seemingly hostile host after claiming he had never been treated “in such a horrible manner.” Notably, Trump also received a positive reception from the crowd as he made his remarks.
The reporter hosting Trump onstage began the discussion with a lengthy opening, “You have used words like animal and rabbit to describe black district attorneys. You’ve attacked Black Journalists, calling them a loser, saying the questions that they ask are, quote, stupid and racist. You’ve had dinner with a white supremacist at your Mar a Lago resort. So my question, sir, now that you are asking black supporters to vote for you, why should black voters trust you after you have used language like that?”
Trump fired back, “Well, first of all, I don’t think I’ve ever been asked a question so in such a horrible manner, first question, you don’t even say hello. How are you? Are you with ABC? Because I think they’re a fake news network. A terrible network. And I think it’s disgraceful that I came here in good spirit. I love the black population of this country. I’ve done so much for the black population of this country.”
