Elisabeth Hasselbeck, a former co-host on ABC’s “The View,” recently sounded off on the daytime talk show, labeling it “absolute brainwashing.” Hasselbeck particularly criticized panelist Whoopi Goldberg for “bullying” viewers into supporting Kamala Harris after President Biden announced he would drop out of the 2024 race.
The segment in question stemmed from a Tuesday appearance on “The View” by White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, where she addressed concerns about whether Joe Biden is capable of finishing his presidency amid concerns surrounding his mental and physical health. Hasselbeck, who was a co-host between 2003 and 2013, ultimately called the segment a “missed opportunity.”
Hasselbeck pointed out that the panelists seemed uninterested in questioning Jean-Pierre about the circumstances of Biden stepping out of the race and formally endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris to lead the party forward. She asserted there was “no follow-through” in pressing KJP for pertinent details on one of the most significant political events in recent history.
“Where were the questions? Absolute misuse, disappointing, not surprising of course, that there was no follow-through. Joe Biden did the right thing, handing it over to someone who could do the job, why can’t he? Where was that question? Not there on purpose, we’d say,” Hasselbeck said, speaking to Fox News host Martha MacCallum. “Count this as the first advertisement for the left when it comes to Kamala Harris’s campaign trail.”
Hasselbeck further called out Whoopi Goldberg, who she clarified is a friend of hers and said this to her face, for outright “bullying” the show’s majority female audience into supporting Kamala Harris. The former co-host on the show asserted that this was an “ignorant strategy” that amounts to “brainwashing” viewers into going along with the narrative.
“This is her main stage, this is where it all begins and unfortunately, the very stage and table that calls for choice all the time wants to sit there and by the mouth of Whoopi Goldberg, a friend of mine, and I tell this to her face-to-face, is bullying her viewers into voting for Kamala based on the fact that she is a female,’ she added.
Hasselbeck continued, “I think that’s absolutely ignorant strategy and I hope the women who are watching tune out or actually tune into what’s going on at that table. It’s absolute brainwashing, it’s an abandonment of what they had. There was an opportunity, as KJP said, actual questions and no follow-up. It was really disappointing, not surprising.”

Biden posted his surprising announcement that he was dropping out on X, stating, “My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”
