In the wake of the assassination attempt that was millimeters away from claiming her husband’s life, Melania Trump explained that she was “traumatized” by the events that unfolded at former President Donald Trump’s fateful rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, earlier this month. According to sources, the incident drastically changed Melania’s perspective on life.
According to Peggy Grande, the former executive assistant to Ronald Reagan who also served under the Trump administration, Melania is “seeing every day differently,” after one of the shots from 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks narrowly missed Trump’s head. The bullet only grazed the former president’s ear after Trump turned his head at the last second.
“Melania Trump’s statement was the epitome of graciousness and a beautiful, heartfelt message of vulnerability and transparency, She loves and supports her husband and has surely been traumatized by this heinous attempt to assassinate him,” Grande said. “As much as Donald Trump himself will continue on, as will she, the events of Saturday changed her, and her family – and all of us. It can’t help but make her see every day and every decision differently.”
In a statement after the attempt on her husband’s life, Melania noted that the family was bound to face a “devastating change” in their lives. “When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realised my life, and Barron’s life, were on the brink of a devastating change,” she stated. The former first lady thanked law enforcement and the Secret Service for protecting Trump. “I am grateful to the brave secret service agents and law enforcement officials who risked their own lives to protect my husband.”
Melania also noted she was thinking about the implications it would have on her fellow Americans while extending her condolences to the families of the victims, such as Corey Comperatore, who was killed by gunfire from Crooks. She added, “A monster who recognized my husband as an inhuman political machine attempted to ring out Donald’s passion – his laughter, ingenuity, love of music, and inspiration.
The former first lady emphasized the loving, human characteristics of Donald Trump that get lost in the incessant hatred of him from the left. “The core facets of my husband’s life – his human side – were buried below the political machine. Donald, the generous and caring man who I have been with through the best of times and the worst of times,” she said.
Melania concluded her message, stating, “Dawn is here again. Let us reunite. Now. This morning, ascend above the hate, the vitriol, and the simple-minded ideas that ignite violence. We all want a world where respect is paramount, family is first, and love transcends. We can realize this world again. Each of us must demand to get it back. We must insist that respect fills the cornerstone of our relationships, again. I am thinking of you, my fellow Americans. The winds of change have arrived. For those of you who cry in support, I thank you. I commend those of you who have reached out beyond the political divide – thank you for remembering that every single politician is a man or a woman with a loving family.”
