Recently, another disturbing video of President Joe Biden circulated through social media. It shows him appearing to confuse another woman for First Lady Jill Biden. The clip surfaced as calls for Biden to drop out of the presidential race continued to grow within the Democratic Party. On Sunday, President Biden formally announced that he would not be accepting the nomination as the Democratic presidential candidate.
In the video, the president interacts with a blonde-haired woman in a blue dress who looks quite similar to Jill Biden at a glance. However, the First Lady runs over to Biden, grabs his arm, and redirects him. The video has drawn varying reactions on social media. Some have defended Biden, while others have expressed concern about the implications of Biden’s apparent mental acuity.
Since the disastrous presidential debate against former President Donald Trump, the Democratic Party had seemingly lost faith in Biden as their candidate to take on the Republican challenger in November. Across the media, Democrats had retreated from attempting to defend the president from the continual concerns about Biden’s cognitive health.
On Sunday, The American Tribune reported on the breaking news that President Biden would not be accepting the Democratic nomination. While Biden noted he would be focusing his efforts on finishing the remainder of his presidency, he endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to represent the party in the coming election.
Biden wrote on X, “My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”
In another statement, Biden said, “It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term. I will speak to the Nation later this week in more detail about my decision.”
Biden voiced his support for Vice President Harris in the message. “For now, let me express my deepest gratitude to all those who have worked so hard to see me reelected. I want to thank Vice President Kamala Harris for being an extraordinary partner in all this work. And let me express my heartfelt appreciation to the American people for the faith and trust you have placed in me. I believe today what I always have: that there is nothing America can’t do – when we do it together. We just have to remember we are the United States of America.”
