In the aftermath of the shocking assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump, a GoFundMe has been authorized by the presumptive GOP nominee to raise money for those victimized by the attack and their family members. At the time of writing this article, the fundraiser titled “Support For Butler PA Victims – President Trump Authorized” has roughly tripled its goal, bringing in nearly $3 million through almost 40,000 donations.
The description of the GoFundMe reads, “President Donald Trump has authorized this account as a place for donations to the supporters and families wounded or killed in today’s brutal and horrific assassination attempt. All donations will be directed to these proud Americans as they grieve and recover. May God bless and unite our nation.”
The fundraiser has attracted many high-dollar donations, such as $50,000 from The Heritage Foundation, $50,000 from both the UFC and its president Dana White, $50,000 from Kid Rock, and $30,000 from Vivek Ramaswamy, among others. Many donors commented under the fundraiser offering thoughts and prayers to the victims.
One person wrote, “My deepest condolences to all the victims and families involved. This tragedy will not be forgotten. God bless you all! God bless President Trump. Lord, I pray for our great President Donald Trump to have the strength, courage, and wisdom to defeat this great evil that has blanketed our once-great country. To keep him in good health and protect against these evil attacks. Help him win in this upcoming election. And to help our great nation to heal and prosper once again. Amen.”
As Trump was speaking at the rally in Butker, Pennsylvania, shots could be heard ringing out from an undisclosed location. At one point, Trump can be seen grabbing the side of his head before looking at his hand to discover blood. The former president was then immediately swarmed by Secret Service agents before Trump stood up, defiantly holding his fist in the air as the crowd cheered.
However, the gunfire ended up claiming the life of one Trump supporter behind him in the grandstands, who was identified as 50-year-old Corey Comperatore, a former small-town fire chief who was attending the rally with his family. “The PA Trump Rally claimed the life of my brother, Corey Comperatore. The hatred for one man took the life of the one man we loved the most,” his sister, Dawn Comperatore Schafer, said in a Sunday post on social media.
In the aftermath of the assassination attempt, Trump has remained defiant, refusing to back down in the face of the threat against his life. Posting on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump maintained that he will not let evil win and will continue to fight for the country ahead of the election. He also expressed his anticipation of attending the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin.
Trump wrote, “Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening. We will FEAR NOT, but instead remain resilient in our Faith and Defiant in the face of Wickedness. Our love goes out to the other victims and their families. We pray for the recovery of those who were wounded, and hold in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was so horribly killed. In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win. I truly love our Country, and love you all, and look forward to speaking to our Great Nation this week from Wisconsin.”
