Many high-profile leftists and Democrats lost it during and after the debate between former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden, one that many said went almost entirely Trump’s way and hardly made Biden look good. Though woke celebrities made up much of the gnashing of teeth, some media personalities did as well. Among those who did so were MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” hosts, Joe Scarborough And Mika Brzezinski. They turned against each other somewhat when discussing what President Biden could do to turn things around, with Brzezinski, who also noted that Biden’s stiff, shuffling gait indicated things might go poorly for him, being urged by Scarborough to “calm down” as something of a cat fight started between them after Scarborough said that Trump would win if nothing changes with Biden.
Scarborough, for his part, had said, that Biden would lose if things continued as they are. He began, “Well….I think I should start by saying, without any apologies, that I love Joe Biden…and Jill. And I will gladly debate anybody any time, any place, anywhere over the issue of whether Joe Biden has been the most effective president in passing bipartisan legislation and expanding NATO and responding to the rising threat coming from China by flexing America’s strength, around China by having the strongest economy in the world, bar none.” Scarborough continued, “I’ll debate that issue with anyone and I will win — I will destroy anybody that wants to debate Joe Biden’s record over the past three and a half years. He can run the White House. He can run the country effectively, despite the barrage of lies that constantly come at him like Donald Trump’s lies last night. But can he run for president in 2024?”
He added, “Donald Trump lied over and over and over and over again, and Joe Biden couldn’t respond to any of those lies. In fact, as The New York Times said, he spent much of the night with his mouth agape and his eyes starting back and forth,” Scarborough said. “He couldn’t fact-check anything Donald Trump said. Not only that, but he missed one layup after another. He couldn’t respond effectively to Donald Trump trying to overthrow American democracy on January 6th. He couldn’t respond effectively to Donald Trump’s continued stream of lies about his own record, and he couldn’t even respond effectively on the issue of abortion, where, for some reason, he darted wildly to the issue of immigration.”
Then, saying Trump would win if nothing changes, Scarborough admitted, “But the door was open so many times this race should not be close,” he continued, “We’ve been asking, why is this race close? We have no idea why this race is close. We saw last night why this race has been close, and why I fear Donald Trump will be the next president of the United States, unless things change.”
Wath him here:
Joining in, MSBNC contributor and “Morning Joe” guest Mike Barnicle said that President Joe Biden let “every fastball” sail straight past him and that he was obviously not up for the debate. That then led to Brzezinski jumping in and, raising her voice, snapping at those on the show with her and telling them to “calm down.”
Doing so, she snapped, “Everybody calm down, and I’ll tell you why. It’s fine not to spin what happened last night, and we’re not going to. He had a terrible night.” Scarborough, snapping back said, “Mika, everybody’s calm here. You’re the only one raising your voice. Everybody is calm here.”
Then, explaining what got her mad, she said, “It’s the, ‘let’s just immediately pull this, let’s end this, let’s find someone else.” Scarborough responded, as the cat fight developed, “That’s not what Mike said.” She then declared, “That attitude toward this…that is what I’m saying slow down on because, again, there’s no spinning it, but let’s be balanced. Let’s, for once, show some balance in a media world that is so shrill with imbalance.”
Scarborough, responding to and pushing back on her claims, said, “We always show balance. Second, nobody’s panicking. I said these are questions Democrats and Joe Biden need to ask themselves, and Mike said he missed one pitch down the middle after another, and he wasn’t up to it last night.” He added, “It’s not panic at this point to understand what’s at stake in this election.”
