Rep. Thomas Massie recently shared with his followers on social media that his wife, Rhonda, had passed away. The Kentucky Republican shared a collage of photos of Rhonda and the family, showcasing various moments throughout their marriage.
Massie wrote a heartfelt message commemorating their 35 years of marriage, during which they raised four children together. “Yesterday my high school sweetheart, the love of my life for over 35 years, the loving mother of our 4 children, the smartest kindest woman I ever knew, my beautiful and wise queen forever, Rhonda went to Heaven. Thank you for your prayers for our family in this difficult time,” he said on X.
The congressman further highlighted his wife’s accomplishments and intellectual prowess. She was the valedictorian when she and Massie were high school sweethearts before eventually earning a degree from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
“She was valedictorian at our high school where we went to the Prom together, accepted at MIT and Harvard, earned a Mechanical Engineering degree from MIT, and devoted her life to our family,” his post continued, showing more pictures of Rhonda with Massie and her children.
Massie added that the family was visiting Washington’s Mt. Rainier with their grandson just last week. “We spent last week touring Mt Rainier with our grandson – she was the best mammaw ever! We love you Rhonda,” the message continued.
The GOP representative has received an outpouring of support during this difficult time of mourning. The Republican Party of Kentucky released a statement to the media regarding Rhonda’s passing, calling for prayers to be extended to the Massie family.
“The Republican Party of Kentucky is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Rhonda Massie. Rhonda was an amazing mother, wife, and Kentuckian. She touched all who knew her and will be deeply missed. We ask that you join us in praying for Congressman Massie and his family during this difficult time,” the Kentucky GOP said.
Massie’s followers on social media also extended their condolences. Prominent conservative figure on X, Juanita Broaddrick, wrote, “What a wonderful tribute to your beautiful wife. May the Lord be with you and your family at this time of great loss. Prayers and sympathy.”
Popular X account Murray added, “So terribly sorry for such a devastating loss, @RepThomasMassie. After listening to your recent podcast with Tucker Carlson and hearing you explain how special your relationship was, especially in terms of the teamwork (and patience) required by you, and particularly Rhonda, to maintain the quirks of the beautiful home you built by yourselves while handling your Congressional and travel obligations, my heart breaks even further. I have no doubt she was absolutely amazing woman. Praying for you and your family.”
Paul A. Pzypula commented, “So sorry to hear this Thomas Massie. Your wife will forever be in your heart and soul. She’ll forever be watching over you. You’ll always see her in the faces, actions and spirits of your kids. Be strong! You have countless people praying for you and your family.”
