According to recent reports, a former fundraiser who helped raise millions of dollars for former President Barrack Obama is leaving the Democratic Party. During a recent interview with Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Allison Huynh noted that she had a “divorce” with the Democrats and is throwing her support behind former President Donald Trump.
In 2006, Huynh founded the robotics company Willow Garage with her ex-husband Scott Hassan. The couple hosted expensive fundraising dinners, reportedly costing from $50,000 to $100,000 per plate. Huynh explained that there have been several problems with Democrats that drove her decision to jump across the aisle.“Like any divorce, there’s not just one thing, there’s a series of things that led up to it,” Huynh told host Jesse Watters.
She substantiated her argument, claiming that the progressive rhetoric toward criminality, particularly in cities like San Francisco, is completely misaligned. According to Huynh, police are needed to maintain the functionality of society, something the left has apparently forgotten.
“The Democrats were policing the wrong things,” Huynh said. “The things that we need to police are violent criminals that are scattered throughout the streets of San Francisco, people defecating, shooting up heroin in front of me and my kids, and allowing criminals to go in and steal from our grocery stores, shutting down grocery stores.”
The former Democratic fundraiser now identifies politically as an Independent. Huyn recently recounted her experience attending a fundraiser for Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, where she was pleasantly “surprised” upon meeting the former president for the first time. She described him as “light and funny and intelligent.”
Huyn praised Donald Trump, claiming the presumptive Republican presidential nominee has a better grip on the state of affairs in America. “I was happy with how knowledgeable Trump is about what is going on with the country and the economy,” she told the New York Post. “He had the information. He is all there with the things that matter: education – his kids are well-educated – fighting crime, immigration and business.”
Ahead of the election, reports indicate that many longtime Democratic supporters are jumping ship and endorsing Donald Trump over Joe Biden. The American Tribune reported last month on news that prominent figures in Silicon Valley, which has traditionally been overtly liberal, are supporting former President Trump.
David Sacks, who has led various tech companies, recently posted a lengthy statement on X, explaining why he is endorsing Trump and hosting a fundraiser for him. “As many press accounts have reported, I’m hosting a fundraising event for President Donald J. Trump at my home in San Francisco this evening,” he wrote.
Sacks continued, “Over the last couple of years, I have hosted events for presidential candidates Ron DeSantis, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., as well as several Congressional figures in both major parties. I give to many, but endorse few. But today I am giving my endorsement to our 45th President, Donald J. Trump, to be our 47th President. My reasons rest on four main issues that I think are vital to American prosperity, security, and stability – issues where the Biden administration has veered badly off course and where I believe President Trump can lead us back.”
