Speaking during an explosive interview with Fox Business’s Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures,” Rep. James Comer, Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, argued that President Joe Biden has committed numerous crimes. He also spoke about Hunter Biden and James Biden, alleging that both lied to Congress, the basis for the recent criminal referrals sent to the DOJ for the two.
Speaking during the interview about what he thinks President Joe Biden was up to, which largely seemed to boil down to peddling influence abroad, Rep. Comer said, “Joe Biden was the central figure in selling the brand and convincing the shady characters around the globe that his family was essentially speaking for him — and to go ahead and wire that money to those shell accounts.”
Bartiromo didn’t let him get away with just spouting off about Biden, asking why there hasn’t yet been a criminal referral against President Biden or other Bidens for violating laws like the Foreign Agents Registration Act. She asked, “Where are the criminal referrals for FARA? For money laundering? For corruption? For influence peddling? Where are those?”
Rep. Comer claimed that the committee is just getting started with digging into the alleged corruption and that many of the crimes he alleges the Bidens committed are past the statute of limitations. He said, “We’re just beginning, Maria. A lot of those crimes that the Bidens have committed, the statute of limitations has run out … But we’re going to deal with those, and we’re going to deal with Joe Biden.”
He then explained the scope of the investigation and noted that, while many characters are involved, including Hunter Biden, the main point of it is not them but rather to hold President Biden accountable. He said, “Remember, this is an investigation of Joe Biden. Hunter Biden, Jim Biden, Eric Sherwin, Devon Archer, these are all witnesses in an investigation of Joe Biden. This was always about Joe Biden.”
He then added that, while they’ll go after Hunter Biden and other related parties as well, they need to remain focused on the president. He said, “We’re going to do everything we can to hold Hunter Biden and all the different shady associates accountable. This is just the beginning. But the next step will be accountability for Joe Biden. I think everyone that’s kept up with this investigation will be very eager to see what the next step is.”
Bartiromo pressed him on what he meant by that. Particularly, she wanted to know if his “very eager” comment meant that a criminal referral against the president is in the pipeline. She asked Rep. Comer, “Are you saying that we could expect a criminal referral against Joe Biden for money laundering? Is that what you just said?”
That’s when Rep. Comer claimed both that Biden has committed “many crimes” and that a report showing so is on its way. He told Bartiromo, “I think that it’s no secret Joe Biden’s committed many crimes. And I think that you’re going to see a report very soon. That report is imminent. That’ll probably be an interim report that updates everyone on the crimes that Biden and his administration have committed throughout this investigation and through the years of the Obama-Biden administration.”
