WATCH: Russell Brand Calls for Lovers of Freedom to Vote for Trump

Speaking in an interview on a new episode of his podcast, “Stay Free with Russell Brand,” an episode that premiered on Friday, June 7, hilarious actor and comedian Russell Brand, who recently was baptized and became a Christian, described the threats of tyranny we face and called on those who love freedom to step up and vote for former President Donald Trump.

Brand’s interview was with Elizabeth Pipko, a model, author, and the RNC spokeswoman. Though the interview was wide-ranging, a particularly powerful moment in it, one that was shared ahead of time with Fox News Digital, came when Brand and Pipko discussed the Trump trial and conviction and what Brand sees as important headed into the 2020 election.

Speaking about the relative merits of Trump and Biden, Brand, whose life and past conduct was far more characteristic of liberalism than MAGA conservatism, called on people to vote for Trump if they “care about freedom.” He said, “In a straight choice between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, if you care about democracy, if you care about freedom, I don’t know how you could do anything other than vote for Donald Trump for precisely the reasons that they claim that you can’t.”

Continuing, Brand explained what threats to freedom we now face, noting first that the threat to liberty and America comes not from Trump, as the hysterical talking heads claim. He said, “They act as if a vote for Donald Trump is almost like you’re directly voting for Armageddon, like you see hysterical performances outside of courtrooms, endless MSNBC bombast.”

He then explained that, rather, the real threat comes from forever wars and technological censorship, explaining, “But I’m starting to think that no, a greater threat to democracy is this kind of technological feudalism, that tells you that it cares about you and that it’s protecting vulnerable people, all the while increasing censorship, increasing the funding of wars, increasing the division between ordinary Americans.”

Brand also explained that he has long been worried about how Trump’s enemies act, particularly in their “snobbery” and dripping “contempt” for him and his supporters, and that their behavior is made all the worse by the disaster that is the Biden administration and its “weaponization of the legal system” against the former president.

He said, “For a long time, Elizabeth, I’ve been concerned about the snobbery and the contempt and condemnation in which people that support Donald Trump are plainly held by his detractors. And this is while you have an administration that’s emulating his policies, plagiarizing from Donald Trump, while simultaneously criminalizing him from the weaponization of the legal system.”

Brand further explained that the current situation is an “Orwellian nightmare,” despite what the regime claims about it, telling Pipko, “The idea of this…Orwellian nightmare continuing all the while they’re telling you that they’re helping you, is a far greater threat than their constant portrayal of Trump as a mad strongman figure, a kind of twenty-first century reiteration of the despotism of the last century.” He reiterated, “For me, what we are facing now is a bigger threat than that.”
