Famous television personality Dr. Phil recently called for an end to the alleged political persecution against former President Donald Trump, who was found guilty on all 34 felony charges in the hush money case brought against him last week.
Dr. Phil, whose real name is Phil McGraw, recently addressed the state of American society during a segment of “Dr. Phil Primetime.” He echoed a pervasive sentiment voiced by conservatives throughout the country that the federal government has become weaponized.
“The weaponization of our great institutions, the FBI, Justice Department, and individual states, similar institutions will lead to one of two outcomes. One is more of the same from the other side, for that may seem deserved, but it is not the right way forward for America. The other is what I call on you to demand from your politicians today an end to this craziness in order to save the soul and sanity of our country,” he said.
Dr. Phil touched on the polarization within American society, often referred to as the “culture war,” emphasizing that people need to view each other with humanity and extend forgiveness to one another. “The Pope has actually given us the right approach in his new book, when he says, We are all brothers and sisters, and there must be no resentment among us for any war to truly end, forgiveness is necessary. That is true of any war, including our current culture war,” he continued.
McGraw pointed out how the Justice Department and the broader justice system have purportedly been used to advance political agendas and attack adversaries, suggesting that this could have far-reaching consequences in the coming generations.
“We need our Justice Department to return to the business of meting out justice and not running the political agendas of those currently in power, blindly seeking convictions warranted or otherwise, and attacking political opponents … I don’t like seeing the weaponization of our justice system agencies and powerful government actions that, frankly, just make my skin crawl for all of us and for my grandchildren,” he added.
The host illustrated what that entails for the conduct at the individual level, quoting Jesus Christ in Luke 23:34 to emphasize further the need for people to embrace forgiveness. Dr. Phil continued, “That requires a very few important things from each of you, from all of us, finding your voice forgiveness and focus on the way forward. Forgive them, for they know not what they do, forgiveness and at the same time requiring better.” Watch the segment below:
McGraw concluded by directly calling out the Biden administration, urging it to “do the right thing” and “dismiss” the charges brought against Trump, even after he was convicted last week, for the sake of the U.S. government functioning correctly.
“The current administration could and should do the right thing, dismiss now, even now, post conviction of a political opponent, all such law fair and pledge to return to the normal functioning of a government rightly run,” he firmly stated.
