Former President Donald Trump recently made a star-studded appearance at UFC 302 in Newark, New Jersey. As Trump walked into the venue, all eyes were on him, and he received a standing ovation and roaring applause from the energetic crowd.
As Trump made his way to his seat, a sea of cell phones recorded him as he shook hands with numerous attendees. However, one person who did not stand and greet Trump was Aaron Rodgers, remaining seated and seemingly reluctant to shake the former president’s hand.
Popular conservative X account Johnny Maga shared footage of the incident, writing, “Aaron Rodgers just refused to shake Trump’s hand I lost all respect I had for him.” The account later shared another clip from the fight which showed Trump receiving a substantially louder applause after the camera panned from Rodgers to him. “Trump mogged Aaron Rodgers last night with an applause 5x louder lmao,” he added.
However, others disputed the assertion that Rodgers had intentionally disrespected Trump, pointing out that later in the event, the famous football player shook hands with the former president. One person wrote, “Nowhere in the clip did anyone refuse anything. They literally shook hands and Rogers posted that it was “priceless”. Your crappy lie got 5 million views. This is what is most wrong with social media. People need to think before they post, and repost information. We need more truth and less falsehoods.”
Another user came to the defense of Rodgers, writing, “No, Aaron Rodgers did not snub President Trump. They met and shook hands. Rodgers called the moment “priceless”.” One person added, “Untrue. Trump walked past him he was sitting down and Trump never extended his hand to him. This is obvious.” Aaron Rodgers himself pushed back as well, posting a picture of his shaking hands with the former president.
Regardless, Johnny Maga doubled down on his side of the story, disputing one of the comment defending Aaaron Rodgers. “Are you joking? The president isn’t supposed to extend his hand for a smug douche sitting in his chair If Aaron wanted to shake his hand he would’ve stood up Aaron is a far-left liberal and ardent RFK supporter who attacks Trump regularly.”
Trump’s presence was a key feature of the event as several fighters, such as Kevin Holland and Sean Strickland, made it a point to intentionally interact with the former president after their respective fights. Watch footage of Trump and Rodgers below:
Last week, Donald Trump was found guilty of all 34 felony charges in the New York hush money case brought against him by Manhattan District Attorney Alving Bragg. Trump addressed the felony conviction in post-verdict comments, maintaining that the real verdict would come on election day. Trump stated:
“This was a disgrace. This was a rigged trial by a conflicted judge who was corrupt. It’s a rigged trial, a disgrace. They wouldn’t give us a venue change. We were at 5% or 6% in this district, in this area, this was a rigged, disgraceful trial. The real verdict is going to be November 5, by the people. And they know what happened here, and everybody knows what happened here. You have a Soros-backed DA and the whole thing, we didn’t do a thing wrong. I’m a very innocent man, and it’s okay. I’m fighting for our country. I’m fighting for our Constitution. Our whole country is being rigged right now. This was done by the Biden administration in order to wound or hurt an opponent, a political opponent, and I think it’s just a disgrace. And we’ll keep fighting. We’ll fight till the end, and we’ll win because our country’s gone to hell. We don’t have the same country anymore. We have a divided mess we’re nation in decline, serious decline. Millions and millions of people pouring into our country right now from prisons and from mental institutions, terrorists and they’re taking over our country. We have a country that’s in big trouble, but this was a rigged decision, right from day one, with a conflicted judge who should have never been allowed to try this case, never, and we will fight for our Constitution. This is long from over. Thank you very much.”
