According to recent reports, Special Counsel Jack Smith has requested a gag order against former President Donald Trump for discussing the authorized use of “deadly force” during the FBI raid of his Mar-a-Lago estate.
Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social, where he addressed the news about the use of force during the raid, maintaining that it is evidence that Joe Biden is a “serious threat to Democracy,” a claim the left often uses to describe Trump. According to Smith, the former president’s comments pose a “danger” to law enforcement agents, supposedly justifying the need for a gag order.
Trump wrote on Truth Social, “WOW! I just came out of the Biden Witch Hunt Trial in Manhattan, the “Icebox,” and was shown Reports that Crooked Joe Biden’s DOJ, in their Illegal and UnConstitutional Raid of Mar-a-Lago, AUTHORIZED THE FBI TO USE DEADLY (LETHAL) FORCE. NOW WE KNOW, FOR SURE, THAT JOE BIDEN IS A SERIOUS THREAT TO DEMOCRACY. HE IS MENTALLY UNFIT TO HOLD OFFICE — 25TH AMENDMENT!
Subsequently, left-leaning members of the mainstream media, such as CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, defended the use of deadly force was “exaggerated” by Trump and his allies, where it is standard protocol during the raids.
Collins said, Some news this Friday night: Jack Smith’s office is asking a federal judge to place a gag order on Trump that would limit his ability to comment about law enforcement that searched his Mar-a-Lago resort. This after he and his allies exaggerated the “deadly force” authorization, which is standard and was also authorized during the Biden searches.”
However, political commentator Julie Kelly offered a synopsis of the FBI’s predicament. She suggested that Smith’s move contains a slew of “distortions, omissions, and misrepresentations,” and she offered greater detail about the nine-hour raid of Mar-a-Lago.
She wrote on X, In a late Fri night/holiday weekend part damage control, part clickbait motion, Jack Smith wants Judge Cannon to prohibit Donald Trump from making “statements that pose a significant, imminent, and foreseeable danger to law enforcement agents participating in the investigation and prosecution of this case.” His motion, predictably, is filled with distortions, omissions, and misrepresentations. Smith gave short shrift to how 30 FBI agents were instructed to prepare for the 9-hour raid.”
Kelly’s post further details the purported omissions of the raid, in which agents were instructed to bring “weapons, ammo, and handcuffs.” Furthermore, agents were allegedly instructed to conceal their credentials and bring an assortment of heavy-duty tools to the scene, all of which were apparently omitted by Smith.
“Smith purposely omitted key details of the order–which, of course, Judge Cannon has. Smith omitted that agents were instructed to bring “Standard Issue Weapon, Ammo, Handcuffs.” He also omitted that the order instructed agents to have their “Badge and Credentials (concealed).” Smith left out that agents brought “medium and large sized bolt cutters.” Smith crucially omitted instructions related to how agents should handle Secret Service. But this is from the FBI op order: Should USSS provide resistance or interfere with FBI timeline or accesses, FBI…will engage with USSS [point of contact.]”
