Speaking in a wide-ranging interview with Outkick, former NFL player and Super Bowl champ Antonio Brown spoke about politics, saying that he supports former President Donald Trump. Brown’s comments came around the same time as Trump’s rally in the South Bronx of New York, reinforcing the idea that Trump is getting a higher degree of support from groups that typically don’t vote Republican, which makes sense given the sorry state of Biden’s America.
Brown’s comments in support of the former President came when he spoke with author and Twitter personality Nick Adams about his affinity for the Trump family, which Brown said began with Fred Trump and continued with Donald, as he admires their business acumen and how they, despite their celebrity status, are a good family.
Speaking about that during the Outkick interview, Brown told Adams, “I’ve never met him. I’ve got admiration for his business moves and I study his dad Fred Trump. But, I think Donald Trump is a good businessman and come[s] from a good family and has been a good president.” Adams then asked Brown if he would endorse Trump for the 2024 election, and Brown said, “Yeah, I’ll endorse Trump.” Brown declared.
Explaining another reason for his support of Trump, Brown pointed to Trump’s pardons and commutations of sentences for some high-profile individuals in the hip-hop industry, saying, “I think he does some great things for my brothers in the music industry in regards to Lil Wayne, Kodak [Black].” Brown added, on that topic, “Trump… if you’re watching this you need to free Young Thug if you could help out.”
Adams posted about the interview on X after Fox News Digital ran an article on it. As a caption to the link with the article, Adams wrote, “EVERYONE is backing President Trump in 2024.” The comments on his post were a predictable mix of support for former President Trump and angry comments about how terrible Brown and Trump are.
Watch the part of the interview where Brown backed Trump here:
Former President Trump, posting on Truth Social about his South Bronx rally, said, “I was thrilled to be back in the city I grew up in, the city I spent my life in, the city I HELPED BUILD, and the city WE ALL LOVE—THANK YOU!”
Brown’s endorsement isn’t the only somewhat surprising one Trump has gotten. For example, Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill, he 38-year-old rapper and Dreamchasers CEO, said, after the Iowa Caucus, “Joe Biden is too old to be our president ‘respectfully’ wtf is going on in the American system that yall pushing this through like it’s okay to trust what we seeing. We talking [missiles] … advance technology… mental and physical warfare …. That’s not a lane for the older!”
Simarluy, in a post on X, rapper “50 cent” wrote that he thinks Trump will win again in the 2024 election, saying, “The world’s almost over so what are we worried about. Who ever made this is fvcked up. I think Trumps gonna be president again, but I’m not gonna say that.”
