Recent footage of President Biden’s motorcade has gone viral on social media, where critics have called out the president for his seeming lack of support when he makes public appearances. Even in the Democratic stronghold of Atlanta, where Biden hosted a fundraising event and delivered remarks at Morehouse College’s commencement ceremony, very few people showed up to cheer on the president’s motorcade.
Popular conservative X account, Citizen Free Press, uploaded footage of the motorcade passing by near-empty sidewalks, writing, “If a presidential motorcade passes through town but absolutely nobody cares – did it really pass through town?”
President Biden’s fundraiser was located in the wealthy Buckhead neighborhood, where he praised Georgia voters as a key reason he defeated Trump in 2020. “If you ever doubt the power of the vote, I say come to Georgia. You are the reason I won. Georgia is the reason I’m president right now,” Biden said.
“Biden arrived in Georgia to participate in a campaign event, and his motorcade drove through deep blue Atlanta. Nobody cared,” one X user commented on the video of Biden cruising through the city. “Mobs gather in Atlanta to see Joe Biden’s motorcade,” another person wrote, seemingly employing sarcasm.
“Haha. Man, can Biden draw a crowd. The only people there are waiting to cross the street,” another user sarcastically wrote. “MASSIVE crowd of almost 4 people line the streets as Biden’s motorcade passes through in Atlanta,” another comment read.
Biden’s visit to Atlanta was also met with protests from some disgruntled individuals. For example, some criticized the president’s speech at Morehouse as entirely designed to boost his support from black voters. Recent reports indicating that Trump’s support in the black community has skyrocketed have the Biden campaign scrambling.
“The general feeling on the ground is that we don’t want him here,” one student named Malik said earlier this month when it was announced Biden would be speaking. “It’s very obvious that we’re being used to score political points and get more Black votes. It is so obvious that it’s just about the presidential campaign.” Watch the footage of Biden’s motorcade below:
“We don’t want Biden. We don’t want politics. And we definitely don’t want Biden to come speak politics,” one student added. Another Morehouse student opined, “There’s a lot more other prominent figures right now that can come to our colleges and universities and speak to us as Morehouse men.”
Video has circulated through social media showing some Morehouse students turning their backs on President Biden while he delivered his remarks to the graduates of the historically black college. Subsequently, reports indicate that Trump’s support among black voters has more than doubled since 2020.
This is a sharp contrast to former President Trump’s public reception nearly every time he steps out into the public eye. The GOP frontrunner has even been met with large crowds of cheering supporters in New York City, an extremely liberal environment. Furthermore, he recently hosted a massive rally in New Jersey, where some estimates suggest he drew as many as 100,000 supporters.
