Chaos recently erupted in Congress as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Rep. Alexandra Ocasio Cortez descended into a shouting match. The two representatives on opposite sides of the aisle had the heated exchange as the House Oversight Committee discussed holding Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress.
Tensions flared as MTG asked Democrats if they were employing Judge Juan Merchan’s daughter, the judge presiding over the Trump hush money trial. Greene proceeded to exchange comments with democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett before claiming she had “fake eyelashes.”
Later, AOC called out MTG, stating, “That is absolutely unacceptable; how dare you attack the physical appearance of another person.” Greene hit back at the Democratic congresswoman, dismissive of her comments. “Are your feelings hurt?” MTG asked as AOC demanded, “Move her words down!”
“Oh girl, baby girl,” AOC said, “Don’t even play. We’re gonna move and take your words down.” Ocasio-Cortez further demanded that Greene apologize for her comments, stating, “She has to apologize!” MTG refused calling on AOC to debate her, saying, “I’m not apologizing. Why don’t you debate me?”
The two devolved into an intense back-and-forth shouting match as other members of the session attempted futilely to restore order between the shouting women. As House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) eventually quelled tensions, MTG agreed to strike her words but maintained that she would not apologize.

Social media users responded to the incident by lamenting the state of American politics. One user posted a lengthy comment citing Constitutional language pertaining to the creation of new governance. They ultimately called for the replacement of these elected leaders.
“The Preamble to the United States Constitution states that the people have the right to alter, abolish, or institute a new government if it becomes destructive. The Declaration of Independence also states that the people have the right to alter or abolish a government that becomes destructive. The Second Amendment has also been argued to be for overthrowing a tyrannical government. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. I’m pretty sure this body of government is well past causing harm to us so when the hell are we going to DO OUR JOB AND COME TOGETHER TO REPLACE THESE CLOWNS!” they wrote.
Another person responded to the comment suggesting that the government should be run like a private sector business. “It should run like a performance based business. Promote good, remove bad. Get rid of 24/7 campaigns. China planning 100 yrs out while we can’t make a SINGLE decision with anything “controversial”. Incentivizing the right things. No more insider trading etc. shut it down,” they commented.
One user complained that U.S. tax dollars fund congressionally elected leaders to engage in such conduct. “Just think, Americans work our asses off to fund those idiot’s salaries and to keep the electricity on in that building so they can focus on petty bickering instead of tackling inflation or lowering taxes,” they wrote.
