Appearing on ABC’s “The View” on Tuesday, May 14, to speak with the hosts about former President Donald Trump and his fears about what another Trump term in the White House would be like for America, raising his alarm bells and cursing in an expletive-filled rant that led even the far-left “The View” to mute his microphone.
Particularly, during his expletive-filled rant, De Niro alleged that another Trump term would mean that America as a country could potentially end and that former President Trump is similar to dictators like Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini. He also doubled down on his past claim that he wants to punch the former president in the face.
Speaking about the fascist dictator comparison, De Niro said that people must take Trump seriously because Hitler and Mussolini should have been taken seriously. He said, “I don’t understand why people are not taking him seriously because you read about it historically in other countries that they didn’t take the people seriously. I think of Hitler and Mussolini.”
Continuing with the rant, he then claimed that a return of Trump to the White House would mean a massive “change” to America, then began cursing and had his words silenced by the show. He said, “If he gets elected, it’s going to change this country for everybody. And they might think that it’s going to make their life better and they just want to —” After he finished cursing, the sound of which was canceled out by the show, he said, “excuse my French.”
Not done after the vulgar rant, De Niro went on to claim that Trump is “hateful” and “mean-spirited,” saying, “Those people who support him with anger and hate because that’s what he’s about. They’re going to see. I mean, I used to see these things. I didn’t understand how he and Rosie O’Donnell used to get into it. I didn’t really care. I see what a hateful, mean-spirited, awful thing he is.”
Also, during his rant, De Niro warned that Trump would be a major threat if he fulfills his campaign promises, saying, “Who does not think that this guy is gonna do exactly what he says he’s gonna do? He’s done it already. And then what? We’re gonna sit around and say what, we told you so?”
And, similarly to his comment about Trump being “mean-spirited,” De Niro said that Trump supporters support him because of “anger and hate.” In his words, “Literally. Those people who support him, with anger and hate, because that’s what he’s about, they’re gonna see.”
That’s not all. De Niro was muted by “The View” yet again when he began speaking about a “slogan” for Trump. Then, when Whoopi Goldberg said that Trump will remain in the White House until he dies, De Niro agreed and said things would be “over” for America. “His idea is to stay in until he drops dead,” she said. “If he’s elected, it’s over,” De Niro responded.
