Prominent Fox News Channel personality Sean Hannity has decided to sell his ritzy Long Island home just months after following in the footsteps of former Fox News Channel host Tucker Carlson and move to the free state of Florida, where there is no state income tax and much less woke nonsense than in DC or New York. Hannity also ripped New York when commenting on the decision.
As a reminder, Hannity announced his decision earlier in 2024, saying, “If anybody is listening to this program for any length of time, been threatening now to do this for quite a while, but we are now beginning our first broadcast of my new home, and that is in the free state of Florida. I am out. I am done. I’m finished. New York, New York, goodbye. Florida, Florida, if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. But it’s great to be here.”
He continued, explaining that Florida is great because its representatives share his values, saying, “And finally, for the first time that I can think of in my adult life, I actually have representatives in the state that I’m living in that share my values. I have a governor by the name of Ron DeSantis and Senator Marco Rubio and Senator Rick Scott. So I’m feeling a lot better about it.”
Further, he contrasted Florida’s low-tax, good governance regime with New York’s high-tax, terrible government regime, saying, “And I’m not going to go through the whys, the how comes, because it’s obvious this migration out of the blue states with high taxes, burdensome regulation, high crime, horrible school districts is real. And if anything, I’m probably late and behind the curve and many others have made the move beforehand.”
Now, Hannity is moving on in an even more substantial fashion from New York City, as he’s not only bought a new house in Florida, but has made the decision to sell his old one on Long Island. The New York Post, reporting on that sell decision, noted:
Sean Hannity, the prominent Fox News personality, has made the decision to sell his expansive Long Island property for $13.75 million — mere months after revealing his relocation plans from New York to Florida.
…
Records obtained by the Wall Street Journal, which was first to report the listing, indicate that a limited liability company connected to Hannity acquired the waterfront estate for $8.5 million in 2008.
Hannity’s estate spans approximately 11,000 square feet and features seven bedrooms, along with an impressive 80-foot private dock on Oyster Bay. The gated grounds include amenities like a swimming pool, a tennis court, a par-3 golf course and a separate putting green.
In moving to Floriday, Hannity is following Tucker, who ditched DC for Florida, and former President Donald Trump, who left New York for Palm Beach. Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, more Americans have made similar moves, ditching places like New York, Chicago, LA, and San Francisco for states and cities that are more liveable, lower cost, and better run.
