Appearing on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” program on the night of Tuesday, May 7, Alina Habba, a member of former President Donald Trump’s legal team, sounded off on the testimony given by former porn star Stormy Daniels, who allegedly had an affair with Trump decades ago and was allegedly paid “hush money” by the former president when he was first running for president to keep quiet about the matter.
Trump is now in court over the matter, with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg alleging that the former president incorrectly marked the payment as a “legal expense” on his tax return when it should have been recorded as a campaign expense. Numerous legal commentators have argued that the case is weak, at best, but still, Trump has been dragged into court over the matter instead of being out on the campaign trail as the election heats up.
In any case, Alina Habba sounded off on Stormy Daniels, who gave testimony in the case, when speaking ot FNC’s Sean Hannity about it. Habba spoke about Daniels despite having told Sean Hannity, “I’m not going to speak to her testimony. She’s currently under oath, and we’re going to continue cross-examining her on Thursday.”
Habba began the interview by saying, after Hannity asked about her reaction, “I was in the courtroom today. I was in the courtroom yesterday. What’s more compelling to me is that the prosecution, whose case, frankly, in my opinion, has been destroyed, is completely discredited. And now they are saying as of yesterday that they want another two weeks. And that, to me, says it all, Sean…”
Hannity, for his part, argued that Stormy’s commentary about her alleged affair with Trump was “immaterial,” as it seemed more about embarrassing Trump than getting to the truth of the matter. He said, “As a matter of law, everything she talked about today was immaterial. I mean, it has really nothing to do with the law. Let me go back to the official statement that she says she was pressured to sign in January of 2018 that I just read.”
Continuing, he said, “Well, was she pressured to deny the affair in 2006? Was she similarly pressured to deny it in 2011? Was she pressured to deny it in 2016? Was she pressed pressured to deny it in 2017? Because that’s an awful lot of times that she was out there denying it and then admits she wanted to make money and sell a book.”
Habba then got to saying that she wouldn’t speak about testimony, telling him, “That’s that’s that’s correct. And I’m not going to speak to her testimony. She’s currently under oath, and we’re going to continue cross-examining her on Thursday. What I will say is this, Sean, when you have inconsistencies with any witness, it speaks volumes.
But, soon afterward, when Hannity asked, “How does that (documents) case ever move forward at any time based on what we’ve learned?” she commented on Daniels. Beginning her response, Habba said, “Because when you’re rushing cases, when you’re bringing cases that are not true, when you’re politically motivated, in time it will show. I always tell the American people, sit tight and wait.”
Then, tearing into Daniels, she said, “What we saw today was a story that I’ve heard for a decade that is complete garbage. And finally, the facts are coming out and the cases are falling apart like a domino, one at a time. You’ve seen it in Georgia. We’re seeing it with Jack Smith. And guess what? We’re seeing now in New York.”
