In an all too familiar incident for America, a police officer in Chicago was shot to death, allegedly by a man with a criminal history who was out on the streets despite that. That murdered police officer was Officer Luis Huesca, who was killed in Chicago in late April 2024 while in uniform and on his way home. Officer Huesca was shot over 20 times, with the alleged killer apparently using a pistol with an attached “switch” that makes it fully automatic. The murdered officer’s family have vowed to shame those soft-on-crime politicians responsible for Officer Huesca’s death.
The Chicago Police Department announced that the suspect in the murder case, 22-year-old Xavier Tate, was arrested on May 2, 2024. The department said, in a press release, “The above offender was arrested by members of the Chicago Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force on May 1, 2024, in the 0-100 block of Gregory Ave. in Glendale Heights, Illinois. He was identified as the offender who shot and killed Chicago Police Officer Luis M. Huesca, 30, on April 21, 2024, in the 3100 block of W. 56th St. (8th District). The offender was placed into custody without incident and charged accordingly. No additional information is available at this time.”
The press release also announced hat Tate had been charged with “One (1) felony count – Murder – First Degree,” “One (1) felony count – Vehicular Hijacking – Aggravated – Firearm,” and “One (1) felony count – Possession of a Stolen.”
Fox 32, reporting on the murder, reported that Tate had a criminal history, noting, “Tate was previously arrested March 6 for criminal trespass to a residence in Olympia Fields, according to court documents.” Further, Fox 32 quoted residents of a neighborhood in which Tate used to live as saying, “Interestingly, car break-ins in the neighborhood have slipped downward since he left.”
The family of Officer Huesca said that they are ready to shame the politicians responsible for his death, and that they refused to allow Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson to visit the funeral. Such is what the End Wokeness X account posted, including a news clip of the family, saying, “The family of fallen Chicago Police Officer Luis Huesca told Mayor Brandon Johnson he is not welcome at the funeral. Huesca’s family wants to publicly shame the politicians responsible for his death. One hour before the funeral was set to begin, Johnson abruptly cancelled his planned visit.”

ABC 7 Political Analyst Laura Washington, commenting on the family telling Mayor Johnson to stay away from the funeral, “It’s a powerful message. They’re basically saying that they do not want the most powerful, most prominent, most important member of the city, the mayor of the City of Chicago to participate in this very important event.”
Continuing, ABC 7 quoted a former police officer and current Chicago Alderman, Anthony Napolitano, as saying that the move shows people are paying attention to and angry about the government’s refusal to support law enforcement. In his words, “It says that, you know, the appetite right now of the political movement against the police is noticed by citizens noticed by family members.”
