Earlier this year, President Biden received a hostile response from local residents while visiting swing states. The president was met with bitter shouts such as “You’re a loser!” and “Go home, Joe!” when visiting Allentown, Pennsylvania. Such less-than-welcoming sentiment has been ongoing throughout Biden’s term, where many voters in swing states feel the Democratic party is out of touch with their interests.
Breitbart Economics and Finance Editor John Carney appeared on Fox News in January of this year, where he addressed the pervasive disdain toward the Biden administration that can be observed in swing states such as Pennsylvania.
Carney specifically called out Biden’s economy and policies as a significant driver of negative opinion from voters, particularly small business owners. Since Biden took office, inflation soared to some of the highest levels recorded in decades, reaching a near 40-year high in 2022. The Federal Reserve has engaged in an aggressive contractionary monetary policy to combat this inflation, hiking interest rates.
Subsequently, these factors have created a suboptimal business environment, particularly hitting small business owners. Carney claimed that because small-scale entrepreneurs “loathe” Biden, the president’s trip, supposedly to promote small businesses, was not well-received.
“Look, Joe Biden is really unpopular with Americans because of his economic policies and because of inflation. You saw it there when people are calling them losers. He’s apparently there to promote small businesses. Small business owners loathe Joe Biden very, very deeply. They cannot stand what he’s done your country, what he’s doing to our economy,” Carney said.
The economics and finance editor further cited statistics such as the small business optimism index, which has hit rock-bottom levels. Carney pointed out that everyday business owners are pessimistic toward Biden, who isn’t taking any initiative to improve economic conditions. Instead, he refuses to acknowledge their struggles while touting “Bidenomics.”
“They are depressed about, if you look at the small business optimism index. It is way, way down because they look at Joe Biden and they say your policies are hurting us every day, and you’re not trying to change it. You’re just trying to brand it Bidenomics to make us feel good about it,” Carney stated.
Fox News host Sean Duffy chimed in, calling out other prominent pain points toward the Biden administration, such as pandemic-related protocol. Duffy addressed recent climate change activism that raised the question of whether democracy was beneficial for the cause. Watch the segment below:
“But then they also remember when Joe Biden helped shut down their businesses all the while keeping the biggest businesses in America open during COVID. They don’t forget but I want to go to this because another tale of climate crazy is going after something we love dearly. It’s this time democracy. A Time Magazine headline reads is the world’s biggest election year. Is democracy good for climate change? So they are saying the quiet part out loud, no doubt they’re going to go after democracy all the while claiming the Republicans are attacking democracy and they’ll applaud the whole way as we give it up and go to a dictatorship,” he said.
