UFC fighter Renato Moicano won a tremendous victory over Jalinn Turner on the night of Saturday, April 13, managing a huge comeback after looking like he was facing a near-certain defeat in the UFC 300 fight. Then, after winning, Moicano grabbed the microphone from Joe Rogan and gave a short, powerful speech about America, freedom, and economics.
Particularly, Moicano spoke about the importance of the First Amendment, as makes sense given that he is from Brazil, which is now waging war on freedom of speech with the goal of silencing political opponents. X owner Elon Musk is currently fighting back against that, alleging that the demands placed on his company to silence opponents of the regime are in violation of Brazilian law.
Moicano, said twice during his post-victory speech that he is a supporter of the First Amendment, though he said that he couldn’t say all he wanted to because he’d lose his large post-victory bonus if he said anything too harsh or vulgar.
He said, beginning his short post-victory speech, “I’m a huge advocate of the First Amendment, and of course, I want the $300k bonus, but they not going to give me because somebody says this is f*cking Disney, you cannot curse…so I’m not going to do my speech, but first off all I love America, I love the constitution, I love the first amendment.”
Continuing, he spoke in defense of the right to keep and bear arms, and in defense of private property and the Austrian school of economics. He said, ” I want to f*cking carry all the f*cking guns, I love private property, If you care about your f*cking country, read Ludwig von Mises and the six lessons of the Austrian economic school, motherf*cker.”
Doubling down on that message after the fight, Moicano posted about von Mises and the Austrian school on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “#ufc 300 I said and will say again if you care about the truth start to read mises… 6 lessons changed my perspective on money inflation and politics!!! #ufc #austrianschoolofeconomics”
Watch Moicano here:
The Mises Institute, describing what those “six lessons” Moicano was referencing are, noted, “The “Six Lessons” Moicano references is the book Economic Policy by Mises, which was one of his most successful popular books. Republished in Brazil as Six Lessons, Economic Policy covers important topics such as capitalism, socialism, inflation, and more.”
Conservative and libertarian accounts on X praised Moicano after his speech. The libertarian “Declaration of Memes” X account, for example, posted, “Ron Paul in America. Javier Milei in Argentina. Now the whole world is waking up the Libertarian ideas. Renato Moicano shows us they’re alive and well in Brazil as well. Long Live Liberty!!! 🔥”
Similarly, Trump ally Roger Stone wrote that Moicano the UFC brawler knows more about economics than most of America’s Keynesia-minded university professors, writing, “Renato “Money” Moicano @moicanoufc. understands more about economics and freedom than most US-based college professors.” Similarly, Jordan Peterson posted, “What a world. The satirists are Christian; the left shills for Big Pharma; and the deadly boxers have become profound economic philosophers.”
